JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for managing drug distribution services for assigned areas in order to provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care. Accountable for staff, services provided and level of performance within assigned areas. This position is accountable for managing operations that meet the needs of patients, medical staff, nursing staff and administration.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Employees must abide by all Joint Commission Requirements including but not limited to sensitivity to cultural diversity, patient care, patient rights and ethical treatment, safety and security of physical environments, emergency management, teamwork, respect for others, participation in ongoing education and training, communication and adherence to safety and quality programs, sustaining compliance with National Patient Safety Goals, and licensure and health screenings.

Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures, including its Service Standards and its Code of Conduct.

* Actively contributes to the planning for and achievement of annual departmental objectives by coordinating assigned objectives and assisting within assigned areas through constant evaluation and innovation.

* Provides leadership and direction for all pharmaceutical care process in the assigned setting.

* Develops systems of care, solves problems and facilitates processes required to meet customer need and achieve division objectives within budgetary target.

* Compiles, maintains and interprets records, statistical and financial reports for assigned areas.

* Coordinates medication management processes and services in assigned areas with other pharmacy areas, nursing areas, other hospital departments and external agencies to facilitate a smooth continuity of care.

* In partnership with departmental management recruits, hires, trains, develops schedules and supervises assigned staff, develops performance standards, conducts performance appraisals.

* Prepares and revises policies and procedures in areas of responsibility; implements approved changes.

* Interprets hospital and departmental policies and procedures for pharmacy personnel and assures compliance.

* Prepares monitors and operates within departmental budget for operations, personnel and capital equipment and prepares variance reports as required.

* Represents the department at assigned hospital and medical staff committees.

* The Director manages pharmacy services in a cost-effective manner, including planning for new services, day-to-day operations, continuously improving services to meet customer needs, assuring adequate resources are available and integrating services with other professional services within and outside the hospital to assure continuity of care.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

Education: Doctor of Pharmacy degree from a School of Pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education.

Experience: Completion of a PGY-2 Residency program, OR completion of a PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Pediatric program OR PGY-1 and 1 year of related hospital experience OR Seven (7) years of related hospital experience

License/Certification:

• Registered Pharmacist by California Board of Pharmacy

KNOWLEDGE

* Knowledge of all phases of outpatient and ambulatory pharmacy.

* Knowledge of local, state and federal regulatory requirements related to areas of functional responsibility.

* Knowledge of principles and practices of organization, administration, fiscal and personnel management.

* Knowledge of project management processes and systems.

* Knowledge of reimbursement systems.

Pay Range

Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role.

Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid salary range.

Minimum to Midpoint Range (Hourly): $95.59 to $126.74
