In collaboration with the Senior Director, Network planning, the Director – Optimization & Scheduling is responsible for leading a team of managers, analysts and specialists whose mandate is to maximize short-term network profitability (between 45 days and 9 months) and to ensure efficient planning of the current flight schedules.
Optimization and management of the current schedule are key levers of organizational profitability. In this role, the incumbent acts as a central point of coordination, working closely with multiple internal teams, including Commercial Distribution, Network Planning, Finance, Revenue Management, Alliances, Flight Operations, Communications, Marketing, and Commercial teams.
Responsibilities
• Set team objectives and ensure their achievement, while monitoring performance.
• Supervise the work of the Optimization and Scheduling teams, including workload organization and schedule management.
• Actively participate in projects related to the current season schedule.
• Determine the economic and strategic optimum of the overall network, monitor profitability trends, and maintain ongoing competitive analysis.
• Provide economic expertise to the department by analyzing results, communicating key insights, and supporting long-term decisions for the Network planning.
• Optimize Transat’s slot portfolio, ensuring the retention and development of slots in strategic and/or constrained airports.
• Tactically optimize the current schedule in collaboration with Operations by identifying ad hoc opportunities for economic improvement (maintenance, crew, connection times, etc.).
• Analyze risks and opportunities within the current schedule and recommend and implement corrective actions, including capacity adjustments.
• Act as a key collaboration partner with operational teams (IOC, maintenance, crews, airports) and commercial teams (Revenue Management, Network Planning) to ensure a flight schedule that is both economically optimal and operationally robust.
• Communicate network changes and their impacts to the various departments.
• Develop and implement tools, dashboards, and reports required to track objectives and support decision-making.
• Act as a driver of innovation, both methodologically and organizationally.
• Contribute to the implementation of organizational strategies.
• Bachelor’s degree in a scientific and/or economic field (mathematics, economics, optimization, operations research, or a related discipline).
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in the commercial aviation field (Network Planning, Operations Planning, Revenue Management, Sales), including at least 5 years in a management role.
• Demonstrated knowledge or experience in airline operations.
• Strong mathematical and/or economic knowledge.
• Excellent analytical, synthesis, and decision-making skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills, leadership, and the ability to build and maintain sustainable relationships with teams and partners.
• Strong time and priority management skills in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
• Excellent command of MS Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and demonstrated ease with collaborative digital tools and AI (e.g., Copilot).
• Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies.
• Oral and written fluency in French and English*
