Overview
A Level II Trauma Center on Florida’s Emerald Coast is seeking an experienced Director of Trauma Program to provide operational leadership for a comprehensive, high-acuity trauma service.
This role serves as the subject matter expert for trauma operations, quality, verification, and system coordination. The Director partners closely with executive leadership, surgeons, emergency services, and regional trauma agencies to ensure compliance, performance improvement, and optimal trauma patient outcomes across the continuum of care.
This is a programmatic and operational leadership role, not a nursing unit director position.
Responsibilities
• Lead day-to-day operations of the hospital-wide trauma program
• Coordinate trauma services across the emergency department, surgical services, and inpatient units
• Serve as the primary liaison between local, regional, and state trauma systems
• Monitor trauma clinical processes, outcomes, and system performance
• Develop and manage quality filters, audits, and trauma case reviews
• Oversee trauma registry structure, accuracy, reporting, and confidentiality
• Lead trauma performance improvement and patient safety initiatives
• Manage trauma center verification and re-verification processes
• Conduct strategic planning to optimize trauma care delivery and resource utilization
• Collaborate with surgeons, trauma physicians, nursing leaders, and ancillary departments
• Address trauma-related patient and family concerns in partnership with leadership
Required:
• Minimum 5+ years of recent (within the last year) acute care trauma leadership experience
• Examples: Trauma Program Manager, Trauma Coordinator, Trauma Operations Leader
• Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Associate Degree or higher
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
Preferred:
• Strong background in trauma performance improvement and verification processes
• Experience working in Level I or Level II Trauma Centers
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
