Role Overview

We are seeking a Director of Engineering Operations to lead Optimum7’s development organization and oversee the successful delivery of all software and engineering projects. This senior leader will be responsible for managing our development team, ensuring operational efficiency, driving technical excellence, and delivering projects on time and within scope. The right candidate is a strong communicator, skilled in people leadership, project management, and process optimization, with a passion for scaling high-performing engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, manage, and mentor the development team across multiple disciplines.

Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of all engineering projects, ensuring deadlines, budgets, and quality standards are met.

Establish and enforce best practices in software development, deployment, and project management.

Collaborate with internal stakeholders (sales, marketing, project management, and leadership) to align engineering output with business goals.

Continuously optimize development processes, workflows, and tool usage to increase efficiency.

Monitor and improve project delivery metrics, ensuring client satisfaction and operational excellence.

Provide technical leadership in evaluating, adopting, and implementing new technologies.

Develop and manage resource allocation, hiring, and training plans to support organizational growth.

Report on team performance, project timelines, and risks to executive leadership.

Qualifications

Fluency in English (written and spoken) at a professional level, with excellent communication and leadership skills.

Proven experience (7+ years) in engineering, software development, or technical operations, with at least 3+ years in a management or director-level role.

Strong background in leading development teams within digital agencies, SaaS, or eCommerce environments.

Expertise in project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, or similar) and hands-on experience managing complex development cycles.

Solid understanding of web development technologies, software architecture, and infrastructure management.

Demonstrated ability to scale and optimize engineering teams for performance and efficiency.

Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Experience working with cross-functional teams and aligning engineering operations with business strategy.

It’s a plus if you have:

Experience in eCommerce development, integrations, and migrations.

Familiarity with Shopify Plus, BigCommerce, Magento, or custom SaaS platforms.

Knowledge of DevOps practices, cloud infrastructure, and CI/CD pipelines.

Prior success in client-facing roles or managing external stakeholder expectations.
