We’re looking for a Director of Software Engineering to lead and scale Emma’s engineering organization (~70 people across 15 teams). You’ll own delivery, quality, and efficiency of software across our E-Commerce, Retail, Operations, Finance, and IT & InfoSec domains, working closely with Product and Data leadership to turn business goals into impactful technology.

What you’ll do::
Lead and grow a 70+ person engineering team across 5 domains. Ensure delivery of high-quality, business-impacting software at scale. Drive continuous improvement, incident management, and reliability. Partner with Product and Data to align tech strategy with company goals. Mentor and develop managers and senior engineers, raising the bar for leadership and execution. Oversee IT & InfoSec as part of the wider tech scope.

Who we’re looking for: :
Proven track record leading large engineering organizations (50+ people). Experience in tech-enabled companies , ideally e-commerce, retail, or supply chain. Strong technical foundation and history as a software engineer. Experience with scaling platforms, integrations, and incident management. Excellent communicator who can translate complex tech into business impact. Based in Portugal or Germany (Lisbon or Frankfurt preferred), with flexibility for remote work.
