Job Summary
The Director of Programming is responsible for leading the development, acquisition, and scheduling of content that aligns with the mission and values of TCT. This role oversees program strategy, content partnerships, and team management to ensure high-quality, faith-based programming that engages and inspires viewers.
Essential Functions
Content Development and Acquisition:
Develop and execute a programming strategy that reflects TCT’s vision and faith-based mission.
Identify, acquire, and curate compelling Christian content, including sermons, documentaries, original productions, and family-friendly entertainment.
Collaborate with content creators, producers, and ministries to produce original programming., including inner departmental.
Scheduling and Programming:
Create and maintain the programming schedule to maximize audience engagement and viewership.
Analyze ratings, audience feedback, and trends to make data-driven decisions for programming adjustments.
Other Duties
Budget and Resource Management:
Develop and manage the programming budget effectively.
Optimize resources to balance high-quality content with financial stewardship
Build and maintain strong relationships with church leaders, organizations, production houses, agencies and industry partners
Compliance and Standards: Ensure all programming adheres to the Christian principles of TCT’s ethical standards.
Maintain compliance with FCC regulations and broadcasting standards.
Supervisor Duties
Provide guidance, mentorship, and direction to team members, fostering a positive work environment and motivating staff to achieve performance goals.
Monitor and assess employee performance through regular check-ins, feedback, and performance reviews, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
Identify training needs, facilitate skill development, and support career growth by recommending opportunities for employees to enhance their knowledge and abilities.
Ensure that the team has the necessary resources, tools, and equipment to perform their duties effectively, addressing any resource gaps as needed.
Address and resolve conflicts, complaints, and issues within the team, maintaining a collaborative and productive environment.
Ensure that team members follow company policies, procedures, and legal requirements, maintaining consistent standards and practices.
Set clear team goals, monitor progress, and adjust strategies as necessary to meet objectives, ensuring that work is completed on time and within budget.
Provide regular updates to upper management on team performance, challenges, and accomplishments, and ensure open communication within the team and across departments.
Manage department or team budgets, ensuring expenses are controlled and resources are used efficiently.
Ensure that workplace safety procedures are followed and that the team adheres to all health and safety regulations.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Media Production, Theology, or a related field.
Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, M.Div., or similar) is preferred but not required
Practical experience in television programming, traffic and general knowledge of operations
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Experience
Minimum 7-10 years of experience in television programming, broadcasting, or media production, preferably within a Christian or faith-based organization.
Proven track record of leadership and team management.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong understanding of Christian theology and doctrine to ensure alignment with the TCT’s mission.
Exceptional organizational and decision-making skills.
Inter personal people skills
Ability to analyze audience metrics and apply insights to programming strategies.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Technical Proficiency:
Familiarity with broadcasting software, content management systems, and scheduling tools.
