Job Description
Towncrest Wellness Apothecary is a patient-centered compounding pharmacy dedicated to helping individuals achieve better health through personalized, functional, and innovative pharmacy care. We believe no two patients are the same, which is why we specialize in customized non-sterile compounded medications designed to meet unique clinical needs.
At Towncrest, we are redefining what community pharmacy can be - moving beyond high-volume dispensing into a model rooted in collaboration, clinical service, and individualized treatment solutions. Our work supports patients, providers, and wellness communities through customized therapies, supplements, and integrative care services.
The Director of Pharmacy Compounding Operations provides strategic, operational, and regulatory leadership for our growing Towncrest Wellness Apothecary compounding practice. This role ensures that compounding operations meet the highest standards of safety, quality, compliance, and efficiency while supporting clinical needs, business growth, and patient outcomes. The Director oversees compounding teams, manages workflow and production systems, and drives continuous improvement initiatives in alignment with organizational goals.
Reporting directly to Towncrest Pharmacy Corporation leadership, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our non-sterile compounding program, mentoring staff, ensuring regulatory excellence, and driving innovation across the apothecary.
General Job Duties: Specific duties will include, but not be limited to:
Lead day‑to‑day operations of non‑sterile compounding, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to established workflows.
Cultivate a strong culture of safety, compliance, and excellence in accordance with USP <795>, USP <800>, state and federal regulations and Towncrest policies.
Manage and mentor a high-performing team of pharmacists, compounding technicians, and support staff.
Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to support workflow optimization, service growth, and operational sustainability.
Identify root causes of workflow or production challenges and implement corrective actions to ensure consistency and efficiency.
Develop, standardize, and maintain SOPs, policies, and best practices across all non-sterile compounding services.
Collaborate closely with functional medicine providers, clinical teams, and leadership to align compounding solutions with individualized care plans.
Partner with inventory and purchasing teams to maintain appropriate stock levels of chemicals, supplies, and compounding materials.
Support innovation in compounding formulations, dosage forms, and patient-specific therapies.
Produce timely operational and compliance reports, participating in strategic planning and growth initiatives.
Establish performance expectations and conduct regular evaluations, coaching, and corrective action when needed.
Maintain oversight of technician certification, licensure, and training requirements.
Prepare for and lead regulatory inspections, accreditation surveys, and internal audits.
Lead or support implementation of new systems, automation, and workflow technologies.
Maintain a culture of safety, including proper handling of hazardous drugs, aseptic technique, and contamination control.
Establish clear performance expectations and foster a collaborative, high‑accountability environment.
Lead workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, and professional development initiatives.
Other projects and/or duties as assigned.
