Job Description

Director of Operations (Telecommunications – Rural ILEC/CLEC)

Cal-Ore is seeking a Director of Operations to lead network operations in a rural ILEC/CLEC environment. This role oversees Outside Plant (OSP), Inside Plant (ISP), Engineering, and IT to ensure reliable service delivery, regulatory compliance, and support for broadband expansion.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee OSP, ISP, Engineering, and IT operations

Directly manage the Engineering, IT, and Plant Supervisors

Ensure network reliability across voice, broadband, and transport services

Oversee network design, construction, maintenance, and restoration

Manage budgets, KPIs, and operational performance

Support fiber expansion and grant-funded State and Federal projects

Ensure compliance with FCC, PUC, and safety standards

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field (or equivalent experience)

10+ years telecom experience (rural ILEC/CLEC preferred)

5+ years leadership experience

Strong knowledge of fiber, copper, and broadband systems

Experience with network operations, projects, and regulatory compliance

Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
