Responsibilities:
Participate with the Director of Nursing and Administration to effectively manage Rapid Recovery.
Assume total responsibilities of the Director of Nursing in his or her absence as requested.
Work with the Case Managers to resolve issues related to resident care.
Conduct assessments on potential admissions prior to admission.
Monitor charting on residents for completeness and accuracy.
Monitor staff performance and issue corrective action as needed.
Evaluate and assess the process on all resident incidents and make recommendations for corrective action and
preventative measures to be taken as directed.
Attend/participant in QI, Nurse Management and Discharge Planning meetings as requested by DON.
Destroy narcotics, controlled substances, and antihistamines per regulations with the Pharmacist as requested.
Assist with development and implementation of new policy and procedures. Regulatory changes.
Assist with Safety Program as requested.
Consult with Scheduling Coordinator daily to ensure good resident care and to maintain productive nursing hours.
Conduct studies and/or projects as requested.
Oversee reimbursement requirements and MDS.
Follow and enforce established facility policies and procedures.
Assume responsibility for personal growth and development by attending in-services and educational programs
made available.
Conduct interviews for RN’s and LPN’s
Oversee clinical computer data entry.
Attend Resident Review.
Oversee unit desk nurse on Rapid Recovery.
Assist with investigation and follow up of VAA issues as directed.
Facilitate staff education related to reimbursement documentation requirements.
Active member of campus reimbursement meetings.
Conduct clinical record audits to ensure accurate and timely information to facilitate billing.
Assist with follow up of concern forms, incident reports, skin investigations.
Qualifications:
Current RN licensure in the state of Minnesota. Must be a graduate from an approved school of nursing.
Must have a minimum of two years’ experience in long term care.
Must be skilled in oral and written communications.
Must have knowledge and proven competence in nursing practice, leadership skills and managerial ability.
Must be able to work effectively with all health care workers of the facility.
Must possess excellent organizational and time management skills.
Must have an awareness of standards for compliance with state licensing and federal certification requirements.
Must be willing to participate in continuing education in nursing, gerontology, and administration.
Must possess basic typing and computer skills.
Must be in good mental and physical health and have a genuine concern for the elderly.
