United Church of Christ Homes' Ephrata Manor Community is accepting applications for a Director of Nursing to plan, organize, develop, direct, and coordinate the overall operation of the nursing care delivered to residents in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards and regulations that govern our facility.
Requirements:
Must possess, at minimum, a diploma or nursing degree (RN) from an accredited school, college, or university;
Must possess a current, unencumbered active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in PA;
Must have, at minimum, two or more years of experience as a supervisor in a long-term care facility;
Preference will be given to candidates with DON experience in a nursing home environment;
Must have the ability to tactfully deal with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public; and,
Must have leadership and supervisory experience and abilities with the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise personnel.
Responsibilities:
Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct department programs consistent with current federal and state regulations and professional standards ensuring programmatic relevance to all ability and interest levels;
Collaborate with the medical director and other physicians to assure quality care is rendered to all residents;
Assist in the development, administration, interpretation, and coordination of department procedures, and review/revise annually;
Develop, implement, and maintain an ongoing quality assessment and assurance program for the department;
Review complaints, grievances, and allegations of abuse and/or misappropriation of resident property and investigate/assusre resolution;
Participate in surveys, reviewing and assisting in the development of plans of correction;
Direct the day-to-day functions of staff within the department;
Be visible within the facility to residents and staff;
Ensure staff compliance with established policies, procedures, programs, and regulations;
Assist in preparation of department's budget, and make adjustments to conform to approved budget;
Participate in the interviewing and selecting of residents for admission;
Ensure staff in nursing department are aware of relevant care plan approaches;
Coordinate the overall care delivered to residents;
Recruit, interview, and hire competent department personnel;
Ensure a sufficient number of personnel are on duty;
Counsel, discipline, and terminate personnel when necessary;
Ensure personnel are performing their duties competently;
Conduct annual performance appraisals;
Develop and plan orientation and ongoing education of personnel, including updates to policies, new equipment, etc.;
Review accident/incident reports and collaborate to establish an effective accident prevention program;
Other duties as required and/or as assigned.
