The Opportunity
We are seeking a Director of Human Resources to lead and run the full people function at Bubble.
This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for building strong systems, ensuring compliance, driving accountability, and managing all core HR operations as the company scales. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and is motivated by ownership and execution.
You will report directly to the Founder & CEO and work closely with the leadership team.
Key Responsibilities
Performance Management & Accountability
• Own and execute company-wide performance review cycles (quarterly and annual)
• Ensure all managers deliver clear, consistent, and timely feedback
• Build and maintain performance frameworks that drive accountability and clarity
• Partner with leadership to address underperformance quickly and effectively
• Define and reinforce expectations for roles, responsibilities, and success metrics
Recruiting & Talent Acquisition
• Lead full-cycle recruiting across all functions
• Partner with Talent Acquisition Specialist and hiring managers to define role requirements and candidate profiles
• Build proactive sourcing strategies and pipelines
• Strengthen internal recruiting capabilities and reduce reliance on external agencies
• Own ATS (Greenhouse) and ensure consistent, high-quality hiring processes
HR Operations & Administration
• Own all day-to-day HR operations end-to-end in partnership with HR Manager
• Manage onboarding and offboarding processes to ensure a seamless employee experience
• Maintain employee records, HRIS systems, and documentation with accuracy and consistency
• Ensure all HR policies are clear, up to date, and properly implemented
• Oversee benefits administration, including enrollments, renewals, and employee support
• Manage and continuously improve HR workflows, systems, and internal processes
Payroll & Compensation
• Oversee payroll processes in partnership with Finance, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
• Ensure proper handling of employee compensation, bonuses, and adjustments
• Support compensation planning, including salary benchmarking and offer structuring
• Ensure compliance with all wage and hour laws, including overtime and classification
Compliance & Risk Management
• Ensure full compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
• Maintain and update employee handbook, policies, and required documentation
• Oversee proper employee classification (exempt/non-exempt, contractor vs employee)
• Ensure compliance with workplace requirements (harassment training, labor postings, etc.)
• Manage audits, reporting requirements, and any employment-related legal matters
• Partner with legal counsel when needed to mitigate risk and ensure best practices
Organizational Effectiveness
• Partner with leadership on org structure, workforce planning, and team development
• Identify people-related challenges early and drive practical solutions
• Support managers in building strong, high-performing teams
• Ensure new hires are effectively onboarded and set up for success
Employee Relations & Culture
• Maintain a high-performance, respectful, and accountable work environment
• Handle employee relations issues with professionalism, discretion, and speed
• Conduct investigations and resolve workplace concerns when necessary
• Ensure consistency and fairness in all people-related decisions
• Reinforce company standards and expectations as the organization grows
Qualifications
• 7–10+ years of HR experience, preferably within a high-growth consumer, retail, or startup environment
• Experience managing HR for organizations with 50–150+ employees
• Strong experience across HR operations, compliance, payroll, and employee relations
• Proven ability to run performance management processes effectively
• Hands-on recruiting experience with a strong talent bar
• Familiarity with HRIS and ATS systems - ADP (Greenhouse preferred)
• Highly organized with strong operational and execution skills
• Clear, direct communicator with strong judgment and discretion
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
