About the Role:
The Director of Community Enterprise Development provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for Charles Lea Center’s community-based, revenue-generating enterprises. This role is responsible for the development, growth, management, and financial performance of earned-revenue and for-profit services that support the organization’s mission and long-term sustainability.
Working closely with executive leadership and cross-functional teams, the Director identifies and expands enterprise opportunities while ensuring high-quality customer experiences, strong financial results, and alignment with organizational values.
Key Responsibilities
Community Enterprise Strategy & Growth
Develop and execute a comprehensive community enterprise strategy focused on earned revenue growth and sustainability
Identify new market opportunities, partnerships, and business models aligned with the organization’s mission
Evaluate feasibility, risks, and financial performance of existing and proposed enterprises
Recommend expansion, improvement, or discontinuation of services based on performance data
Enterprise Operations & Management
Provide operational leadership for community enterprise programs, facilities, or services
Oversee daily operations to ensure efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction
Establish operating procedures, service standards, and performance expectations
Ensure facilities and services are professionally managed and market-ready
Revenue, Budgeting & Financial Performance
Develop pricing models, rate structures, and revenue projections
Prepare and manage enterprise budgets in collaboration with Finance and executive leadership
Monitor revenue performance, expenses, and profitability, implementing corrective actions when needed
Ensure strong internal controls and financial accountability
Marketing, Sales & Business Development
Lead marketing and promotional efforts to maximize utilization and revenue
Build partnerships and outreach strategies to grow enterprise participation
Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to position services effectively
Represent the organization at community, business, and networking events
Vendor, Contract & Risk Management
Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and service agreements
Ensure compliance with contractual, insurance, and policy requirements
Identify and mitigate operational, financial, and reputational risks
Team Leadership & Collaboration
Supervise and support staff involved in enterprise operations
Provide training, coaching, and performance feedback
Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, collaboration, and customer service
What You’ll Need:
Minimum age: 18
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, or a related field (equivalent experience may be considered).
5–7 years of experience in business development, enterprise operations, facilities management, or revenue-generating services.
Demonstrated experience managing budgets, pricing, and revenue performance.
Experience in nonprofit, community-based, hospitality, events, or service-oriented environments preferred.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Primarily a professional office environment with regular use of standard office equipment
Requires standing, walking, sitting, and occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs.)
