THE OPPORTUNITY:
The Director, Healthcare Industry Partnerships is the strategic relationship owner and growth leader for the organization’s partnerships with healthcare related companies. This role has enterprise-wide responsibility for the execution, management and ongoing stewardship of Healthcare Industry partnerships including the activation and fulfillment of sponsorship, partnership and grant agreements.
This position is accountable for the execution of the PanCAN Healthcare Industry partnership strategy, ongoing engagement of Healthcare Industry companies across all programmatic areas of the organization and achievement of annual and longer-term revenue goals. The Director will maintain executive-level relationships, identify emerging opportunities aligned with scientific and pipeline progress, and ensure that partnerships advance both mission impact and organizational sustainability.
This role is also responsible for establishing clear metrics, reporting and performance insights related to Healthcare Industry relationships and revenue. The Director will work closely with the Scientific and Medical Affairs leadership and other cross-functional stakeholders to ensure our healthcare industry partners are connected to the appropriate team members internally to maximize all partnerships.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Secure, retain, and grow partnerships from the Healthcare Industry across all programmatic areas. Responsible for managing relationships across approximately 50+ industry partners to reach an annual goal of $2M+ in revenue
Work with Legal and Finance to create, negotiate, and execute contracts and partnership agreements with Healthcare Industry partners within the pre-determined portfolio of engagement offerings, exercising independent judgement within approved parameters and escalating complex or novel arrangements as appropriate.
Partner internally with appropriate team members across the organization to navigate and maximize all partnerships and serve as an integral team member in support of developing PanCAN’s Healthcare Industry engagement strategy.
Seek out new potential partners based on industry activity in the field and product development progress and conduct outreach to establish new relationships
Ensure all industry fundraising efforts are aligned and coordinated with the Community Engagement and Development departments as appropriate, helping to define clear roles, handoffs and shared goals across teams.
Manage the fulfillment of all partnership agreements including working with Marketing to recognize and promote all Healthcare Industry donors, ensuring high-quality, consistent stewardship experiences.
Work across departments including Patient Services, Marketing, and Scientific and Medical Affairs to ensure successful delivery of industry benefits to partners
Coordinate Healthcare Industry partner engagement at annual conferences and scientific meetings representing the organization as a senior leader and thought partner.
Work with Marketing to identify, strategize, and submit Healthcare Industry grant applications including applying for grants, securing funds, and providing progress reports
Work cross-functionally to create an effective year-round stewardship, recognition, and communication program for our Healthcare Industry strategic partners with differentiated approaches for top-tier partners.
Implement, track and report on measurable indicators; maintain strategic partners’ records in our database and deliver regular performance insights and recommendations to leadership
Effectively and professionally represent the organization and its mission; act as a spokesperson in the community
Direct reports:
While this role may not initially have direct reports, it is expected to provide functional leadership, mentor junior staff, and be positioned to assume people management responsibilities as the Healthcare Industry portfolio grows.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) from a 4-year accredited university in business, non-profit management, or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training and practical experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities required
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
The following are the minimum qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this position:
Years of experience may vary based on the position, duties, and responsibilities. Preferred years of experience are 5+ years’ experience working in partnerships, programs, and business development across the Healthcare Industry strongly preferred
Strong ability to navigate and negotiate within complex, hierarchical organizations
Ability to have difficult and sensitive conversations
Preferred experience with biopharmaceutical companies
Understanding of clinical trials, the research process, and the healthcare industry
Impeccable judgment, intuition, discretion, and creative problem-solving skills including negotiation and conflict resolution skills
Demonstrated ability to relate well to and understand the needs and interests of institutional and industry partners; must have excellent relationship-building skills and be able to elicit cooperation across sectors and varying viewpoints
Understanding of fundraising principles and corporate relations
Superior communications and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written
Demonstrated leadership with the ability to influence, align and guide cross-functional teams without direct authority
Outstanding planning, organizing, monitoring, and evaluation processes
Self-reliant, good problem solver, ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Experience with PowerPoint and Excel is essential
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (e.g., PowerPoint and Excel) and database systems (i.e., Salesforce) preferred

SALARY RANGE: ($122-153k) PanCAN is committed to providing fair and transparent employee pay. Our compensation policy and practices integrate years of relative experience, skills, job duties, functions, responsibilities, education, certifications, expertise, PanCAN seniority, position/title, department, market conditions, and merit, and may also include geographic location. Our base salaries range from Entry level to Experienced and max at Expert level. The base pay range included herein is specific and germane to the job/position/opening as described within this announcement.
