Director, Global Strategic Sourcing

We are expanding our Global Strategic Sourcing (GSS) team, dedicated to supporting our Global Portfolio in innovative therapeutic areas. As the Director of Early Discovery and Research GSS, you will be instrumental in driving the success of our R&D organization, focusing on delivering essential medicines to patients suffering from rare diseases across more than 100 countries. Are you prepared to make a difference? Accountabilities: You will be responsible for: Developing and leading category strategies to support the procurement of scientific services for Early Discovery Research projects, including Translational Science, Genomic Medicine, Cell/Gene Therapy, Non-Toxicology, and other assigned category areas. Partnering with and advising key stakeholders on supply market dynamics and leading practices to enhance value, minimize risk, and ensure quality and cost-effectiveness. Establishing a best practices Category Management and Strategic Sourcing program for categories as assigned, actively supporting the development of a global network of preferred and frequently used suppliers. Managing interaction with key stakeholders to establish best-in-class Sourcing Category Strategies, balancing short and long-term goals and objectives. Collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure effective alignment that supports business requirements while managing quality, speed, cost, risk, sustainability, and ease-of-use. Staying abreast of market trends, benchmarks, and best practices across managed categories, leveraging this knowledge to optimize results and maintain a high standard of excellence. Developing and nurturing a supplier experience that positions Alexion, AstraZeneca RDU as a "customer of choice." Essential Skills/Experience: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field 8+ years of Bio-Pharma industry experience with extensive knowledge of strategic sourcing and category management. Experience in working in a highly ambitious, fast-paced environment. Strong financial skills for budget management, cost analysis, and strategic decision-making in procurement. Exceptional negotiation skills; tenacious problem-solving focus with a propensity for building mutually beneficial relationships. Excellent communication and ability to influence others. Subject expertise with Early Discovery and Research. Desirable Skills/Experience: 10+ years of Bio-Pharma industry experience. Advanced degree in a relevant field preferred. Subject expertise specifically with Cell and Gene Therapy is preferred. Certification such as CPSM or equivalent is preferred.
