Job Description

About Juniper Square

Our mission is to unlock the full potential of private markets. Privately owned assets like commercial real estate, private equity, and venture capital make up half of our financial ecosystem yet remain inaccessible to most people. We are digitizing these markets, and as a result, bringing efficiency, transparency, and access to one of the most productive corners of our financial ecosystem. If you care about making the world a better place by making markets work better through technology – all while contributing as a member of a values-driven organization – we want to hear from you.

Juniper Square offers employees a variety of ways to work, ranging from a fully remote experience to working full-time in one of our physical offices. We invest heavily in digital-first operations, allowing our teams to collaborate effectively across 27 U.S. states, 2 Canadian Provinces, India, Luxembourg, and England. We also have physical offices in San Francisco, New York City, Mumbai and Bangalore for employees who prefer to work in an office some or all of the time.

About your role

This is a great opportunity to join a growing and exciting initiative as we continue to evolve and scale Juniper Square’s fund administration service. Our Capital Events & Performance team is filling a substantial market gap, responsible for all capital activity transactions and deliverables for Juniper Square’s Private Equity, Venture Capital, and Real Estate customers.

This service has had a huge impact across the business as it relates to workflow automation, leveraging technology to deliver an unparalleled customer experience, and enabling GPs to strengthen relationships with LPs.

As a Director, Fund Administration (Capital Events), you will be responsible for building and leading this highly specialized team. You will oversee all deliverables focusing on capital event transactions, including waterfalls, distributions, multiple close rebalancing, and capital calls. This role will report to a Senior Director, Fund Administration. What you’ll do

• Conduct formal performance reviews and provide coaching and feedback to direct reports throughout the year.

• Responsible for ensuring team satisfaction as assessed by our bi-annual employee engagement survey; design and execute on initiatives to improve team satisfaction.

• Partner with the enablement team to enhance the training process and learning content, with a specific focus on complex financial modeling, LPA interpretation, and capital event transactions.

Client Service and Capital Event Delivery:

• Responsible for the service delivery of the Capital Events team, ensuring customer health and that all deliverables (e.g., capital call notices, distribution notices, waterfall calculations) are accurate and on time.

• Serve as the primary internal and external escalation point for challenging customer situations and complex technical questions related to LPAs, waterfalls, and capital transactions.

• Perform hands-on, customer-facing work as needed to support the team, including maintaining complex waterfall and capital call models in Excel based on client LPAs and creating notices using our software.

• Identify and execute on initiatives to improve team efficiency and productivity, including collaborating with our Product Team on technology and automation improvements for capital event processing.

• Maintain strong controls around capital event deliverables and identify how our controls should evolve as the team scales.

• Oversee the capital event components of the year-end audit process.

• Responsible for ensuring collection on invoices to customers and timely maintenance of contracts.

• Identify out-of-scope requests from clients and collaborate with Marketing, Product, and Investor Services to scope new service offerings related to complex capital administration.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of fund accounting experience in private equity, venture capital, real estate, and/or hedge funds. Experience working at a fund administrator is required.

• Specific, deep expertise in private equity capital transactions, including complex waterfall modeling (American, European, preferred return, catch-up), capital calls, distributions, and multiple-close rebalancing.

• Proven ability to interpret complex Limited Partnership Agreements (LPAs) and translate their economic terms into operational models.

• 5+ years of experience hiring, managing, and developing a team, inclusive of managing highly technical individual contributors (e.g., modeling experts).

• Passion to develop and train talent, providing coaching to ensure they are successful in their role.

• Possess strong client and relationship management skills to drive outcomes and meet customer needs, especially during challenging situations.

• Operational mindset with a strong focus on building repeatable, scalable processes.

• Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to clients.
