The Director will be responsible for the operation and development of common facilities and infrastructure as they relate to the operation of Telesat Facilities across the corporate landscape.
In partnership with other Directors and managers this position will facilitate shared requirements forming a singular approach to workspace and facility security, operations and future planning for scale and growth.
Demonstrated experience in working across multi-tiered organizations and presenting strategic plans to gain combined insight and agreement from internal stakeholders, will be critical to success in this position.
In addition to the major office facilities in Ottawa, Gatineau and Bethesda; there will be additional facilities such as Landing stations, POPs and Data Centres that will fall under the oversight of this position to ensure no duplication of purpose and co-ordination of expense for operation and expansion as operationally required.
Negotiation with Landlords and lessors will be an area of expertise and will co-ordinate all these functions with Legal and Procurement as required to drive efficient and effective workspaces/facilities on behalf of Telesat.
Capex and Opex planning as it relates to staging, operational readiness and continued functional operations of shared facilities and infrastructure will be a core function of this position.
This position will co-ordinate the physical security of both owned and leased properties to achieve a uniform and consistent approach to asset protection and a safe and efficient working environment.
The Director will consult and provide input on the approach to H&S policies and procedure to ensure they are consistent with corporate policies and procedures and applied as is reasonable and required across various jurisdictions globally.
Reporting on ESMS activities as required to meet our responsibilities to environment and social management activities reporting on a corporate scale.
Experience and the proven ability to interact at all layers of employee engagement to facilitate and exact change driving co-operation, in an engaging and productive manner is critical to success.
Experience:
• Senior management experience in operation and planning of Facilities/Infrastructure
• Experience in coordinating agreements with Legal/Procurement as well as Landlords/Lessors
• Leading diverse groups and their requirements, leveraging assets to minimise costs for corporate expense
• Familiarity with various contract/construction regiments to obtain best value of time and money
• Ability to plan for both linear and nonlinear growth to achieve scale in infrastructure growth
• Management of both capital and operational budgets across both internal/external stakeholder
• Negotiation with supplier and vendors to allow for down selection with Procurement/Legal
Requirements:
• 15+ years of experience in an operational role as it relates to facilities or services in Telecom environment
• 5+ years of experience in working on construction projects or workspace builds/expansions
• Strong understanding of construction practices and roles and responsibly in large scale projects
• Strong technical understanding of Structural systems, Power Systems, HVAC and Telecom transmission systems
• Demonstrated past abilities to work all levels of corporate engagement, employees/peers and executive management
The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and also obtain a NATO Secret security clearance.
