Location: San Antonio, TX
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Schedule: Days | No Weekends
Base Salary Range: $130,000 – $150,000 annually (based on experience)
Annual Incentive Bonus: 17.5% – 26.25% (performance-based)
Sign-On Bonus: $20,000
Relocation Assistance: Available (case by case)
Overview
A growing acute care hospital in the San Antonio area is seeking an experienced Director of Emergency Services to lead a high-volume Emergency Department through continued growth and expansion. This role provides strategic, operational, and clinical leadership with a strong emphasis on accountability, patient throughput, staff engagement, and quality outcomes.

Responsibilities
• Provide overall leadership and operational oversight for Emergency Services.
• Ensure safe, high-quality, patient-centered emergency care delivery.
• Lead staffing strategy, scheduling, productivity management, and position control.
• Drive patient throughput, flow optimization, and surge planning initiatives.
• Develop, implement, and enforce clinical standards, policies, and procedures.
• Monitor regulatory compliance, accreditation standards, and quality benchmarks.
• Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Lead and develop Emergency Department leadership team, including managers and charge nurses.
• Partner with physicians and hospital leadership to advance departmental and organizational goals.
• Manage departmental budgets, operating expenses, and cost-containment initiatives.
Department Overview
• Level III Trauma designation
• Approximately 50 Emergency Department beds
• Average daily volume: 180–200 patients
• High EMS and high-acuity case mix
• Collaborative medical staff and engaged leadership team
• Planned hospital expansion, including additional inpatient beds
Required
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN).
• Active, unencumbered RN license in Texas (or compact eligible).
• Minimum 1 year of recent Emergency Department Director experience
(exceptionally strong ED Managers may be considered).
• Minimum 3 years of recent Emergency Department clinical experience.
• Demonstrated success with operational metrics, quality outcomes, and staff leadership.
Preferred
• Master’s Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
• Experience leading high-volume Emergency Departments.
• Strong background in throughput optimization and employee engagement initiatives.
