Summary
The Director, Commercial Data Strategy & Governance will play a critical role in strengthening how GeneDx measures and manages commercial performance. This role will serve as the bridge between Finance, Commercial Analytics, Sales Operations, and Data Engineering to ensure the business operates from a single source of truth.
The Director, Commercial Data Strategy & Governance will lead the creation and maintenance of shared commercial definitions across products, clinician segments, and accounts—ensuring consistent measurement of growth, market share, and performance across teams. This person will design the data structures and governance processes that make analytics faster, more reliable, and scalable, while reducing duplication and confusion.
In addition to owning data strategy and governance, this individual understands the key Commercial Ops functions and can provide hands-on analytical support when needed. The role will reduce operational risk, strengthen alignment with Finance, and create the infrastructure needed for long-term scalability.
Job Responsibilities
Data Strategy & Governance
• Define, document, and maintain shared commercial definitions (e.g., clinician taxonomy, test type, account hierarchy, product grouping) to ensure all teams measure performance the same way
• Partner with Finance to align on how GeneDx tracks growth, performance, and market share across specialties and market segments
• Collaborate with Data Engineering to design and implement data warehouse structures that support reliable, scalable analytics
• Establish governance standards, version control, and documentation so that definitions are transparent, accessible, and easy to update
• Build and manage the process for reviewing and approving definition changes in coordination with Sales Ops and other stakeholders
• Act as the primary liaison between Finance, Commercial Analytics, Sales Ops, and Data Engineering to ensure consistency in data definitions and methodologies
• Partner with Product and Data teams to ensure updates flow correctly into Tableau and other reporting systems
• Identify and resolve data discrepancies across systems, ensuring accuracy and alignment between Finance, Sales Ops, and Analytics reporting
• Assist in evaluating external vendors/data sources
Analytical Leadership & Execution
• Supports Commercial Operations in advancing the overall data and analytics infrastructure strategy
• Assist with high-impact ad hoc analyses across Sales Ops, Analytics, Marketing, CX
• Serve as a cross-functional analytics partner who understands key Commercial Ops functions and can step in to support critical analyses and priorities as needed
• Drive automation opportunities to reduce manual work and increase scalability

Education, Experience, and Skills
• 5+ years of experience in Commercial Analytics, Sales Operations, or Data Strategy (diagnostics, biotech, or healthcare strongly preferred)
• Deep understanding of data warehousing, governance frameworks, and analytics tools (e.g., Snowflake, Tableau, SQL)
• Proven ability to partner cross-functionally with Finance, Sales Ops, and Engineering teams
• Exceptional communication and documentation skills, with the ability to translate complex data concepts into actionable insights
• Strategic mindset with hands-on execution capability—able to design scalable frameworks while staying close to the details
Work Environment
This is a fully remote position. The employee will work from a home office or other suitable remote location with reliable high-speed internet access. Work is performed in a climate-controlled environment using standard office equipment including computer, phone, and video conferencing tools. Your standard work schedule and hours will be established in collaboration with your leader and may be adjusted to align with evolving business needs.

This is a sedentary role requiring prolonged periods of sitting while working at a computer. Physical demands include:
• Sitting for extended periods (up to 8 hours per day)
• Repetitive use of hands and fingers for typing and mouse operation

Pay Transparency, Budgeted Range
$190,000—$220,000 USD
