Role Summary and Impact

The Global Head of Brand Safety is responsible for defining and leading WPP Media’s brand safety strategy and practices across all markets. Acting as the lead spokesperson for WPP Media on brand safety topics, this role shapes industry standards, influences policy, and maintains the organisation’s position at the forefront of brand safety innovation.

Based in London, you will partner with clients, industry bodies, technology providers, and internal WPP Media teams to ensure safe, responsible media investment and mitigate risks to brands across channels and platforms. This position has global oversight and will direct crisis response, education, operational enforcement, and strategic collaboration to protect brand integrity, client trust, and consumer safety.

Skills and Experience

Global Industry Leadership & Strategic Partnership

• Be the lead spokesperson for WPP Media globally around all brand safety topics, representing WPP Media at industry events, in the press and with trade bodies

• Align with Global Partnerships teams to influence product innovation and roadmaps with key industry partners and industry collaborations (e.g. Ad tech partners, IAB etc.)

• Ensure global adherence to industry standards and obtain the associated certifications (e.g., TAG Brand Safety, IAB Gold).

• Advise the wider business and generate POVs on brand safety developments, incidents and legislative changes relevant to WPP Media

Client Leadership

• Define and lead the overall brand safety strategy together with individual (global) clients on an ongoing basis, requiring regular contact with key clients as well as leading the brand safety strategy in client reviews and pitches

Brand Safety Standards & Implementation

• Ensure WPP Media is at the leading edge of brand safety development, overseeing selection of third-party measurement and developing frameworks for defining and qualifying success

• Maintain rigorous adherence to WPP Media’s brand safety best practices throughout all agency operations

Global Guidance, Education & Training

• Outline best practice around brand safety tools and strategies to minimise duplication and maximise efficiency, effectiveness and value during implementation

• In conjunction with the Learning and Development team, design and deliver comprehensive and engaging global brand safety education and training programmes for all WPP Media teams

Crisis Management

• Lead WPP Media's global crisis response to brand and user safety incidents, including responses to sensitive news cycles, regulatory impacts, and social media platform challenges.

Responsible Investment

• Develop and implement a ‘gold standard’ approach to responsible investment, ensuring it is implemented into existing ways of working

Financial and Operational

• Own the annual global budget planning process for the Brand Safety team function, working with internal global finance teams to ensure appropriate resource allocation

• Input into the Global Investment strategy around negotiation and implementation of brand safety tools to maximise client value and operational excellence
