DIRECT SERVICES SPECIALIST

Job Summary: The Direct Services Specialist provides assistance in the operations of the clothing closet and food pantry.
Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Ensure clothing closet and food pantry are organized, sorted, and cleaned for families to shop.
Ensure processes and an organizational system is maintained for efficiency, allowing donations to be processed and volunteers the ability to work independently. Donations should be processed within in 5-10 business days of receipt.
Responsible for recruiting volunteers and providing volunteer oversight during volunteer shifts.
Track and discard items not selected in shop to keep store fresh and stocked with desirable items.
Have a system in place to rotate items going out for pick-up by other agencies verses items going in the clothing closet.
Travel required to pick up donations in surrounding counties, with or without accommodation.
Pack orders for outlying counties for monthly deliveries.
Monitor appointments for in-store shopping and facilitate client visits.
Data entry within in two (2) business days of completion of transaction.
Attend monthly distribution events.
Qualifications & Preferred Skills
Retail and community outreach experience preferred.
Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and proposing new ways of creating efficiencies.
Outstanding organizational and planning skills.
Solid commitment to the principles of support and advocacy for foster and adoptive families.
Excellent people skills, with experience collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team.
Experience recruiting and managing volunteers.
Strong verbal communication skills and demonstrated proficiency in writing clearly and persuasively.
Demonstrate leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills. Must quickly establish rapport and build trust.
Flexible and a self-starter; multi-task while also being highly detail-oriented while meeting all deadlines.
Work as a necessary part of a team effort with colleagues of all demographics.
Model ethical and professional behavior at all times.
Flexibility and adaptability, capacity to shift styles to fit the needs of a wide range of cultures, people, and organizations.
