Digital Accessibility Specialist

We partner with leading U.S banks and financial institutions, and accessibility is at the heart of building experiences that serve every customer. We’re looking for a Digital Accessibility Specialist to ensure our digital products and content meet the highest accessibility standards and ADA compliance requirements.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of WCAG 2.1 AA standards and ADA compliance.

• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, ARIA roles, and accessible component design.

• Hands-on experience with accessibility testing using AXE (automated and manual QA) and assistive technologies (e.g., NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver).

• Skilled in issue documentation and process management, including logging findings in Jira, assigning ownership, and providing clear context for both problems and recommended solutions.

• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams, drive smooth resolution and alignment during remediation, and clearly train or guide non-technical staff on accessibility best practices.

• Familiarity with AI-based accessibility tools for alt text, captions, and transcripts.

• Background in web development, UX design, or digital product accessibility.

Bonus points

• Experience working in fintech or with financial institutions.

• Familiarity with enterprise-scale design systems and component-level accessibility.

• Knowledge of ADA Title III requirements and other U.S. accessibility regulations.

• Experience running cross-functional accessibility workshops or serving as an internal accessibility advocate.

• Understanding of international accessibility standards (e.g., EN 301 549, Section 508).

A day in the life and how you’ll make an impact

• Conduct accessibility audits of Melio’s web applications using AXE and manual testing.

• Document accessibility issues clearly and provide actionable remediation steps for developers and designers.

• Collaborate with engineering and design teams to embed accessibility into components and workflows from the start.

• Join customer and partner calls (including leading American banks) to align on accessibility expectations and advise on best practices.

• Provide training sessions and hands-on guidance for colleagues across product, design, and engineering.

• Review and remediate supporting digital content (documents, videos, PDFs) to meet accessibility standards.

• Stay current with evolving accessibility regulations and translate them into clear policies and guidelines for Melio.
