Internship Overview
Landwehr Construction, Inc. is excited to offer a CMV/Heavy Equipment Technician opportunity at an Intern level designed for students pursuing diesel technology, heavy equipment, commercial motor vehicles, or related technical programs. This hands-on internship provides real-world experience working alongside experienced equipment technicians in our shop environment.
This is an excellent opportunity to apply classroom knowledge, develop mechanical skills, and gain exposure to maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of heavy construction equipment.
What You’ll Learn & Do
As a Technician Intern, you will:
Assist technicians with maintenance and repair of heavy construction equipment
Learn how to inspect equipment and identify maintenance or repair needs
Support preventative maintenance tasks such as oil changes, fluid checks, greasing, and filter replacement
Assist with parts removal, installation, and basic component repairs under supervision
Help clean, organize, and maintain the shop and work areas
Safely use hand and power tools under supervision
Follow all safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements
Work closely with experienced shop technicians and supervisors to build technical skills

Are currently enrolled in a diesel technology, heavy equipment, CMV, mechanical, or technical program
Have an interest in heavy equipment, machinery, and CMVs

Experience & Requirements
Previous shop or mechanical experience is helpful but not required
Valid Class D driver’s license required
Ability to work in a shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with or without accommodation
Schedule & Environment
Seasonal internship with potential for overtime
Primarily shop-based with possible exposure to job sites
Hands-on learning in an active shop
