Diesel Mechanic / Shop Assistant
Location: 244 Grey Fox Rd, Montoursville, PA
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 40 hours per week | Overtime as needed
Employment Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $18-24/hr
Position Overview
Costy’s Energy Services is seeking an Entry to Mid-Level Diesel Mechanic / Shop Assistant to support fleet and equipment maintenance operations in Montoursville, PA. This role is designed for a candidate with foundational mechanical knowledge, training, or hands-on experience who is looking to grow within a professional shop environment.
The position works closely with the Fleet Manager and senior diesel mechanics to help facilitate repairs, maintain shop efficiency, and perform entry to mid-level maintenance and repair tasks on company vehicles.
Responsibilities
Assist the Fleet Manager and senior diesel mechanics with daily repair and maintenance operations
Perform entry to mid-level maintenance and repair tasks on company trucks and equipment
Conduct routine services such as oil changes, brakes, filters, belts, hoses, and minor repairs
Support troubleshooting and diagnostics under supervision
Act as a parts runner, including picking up, delivering, and organizing parts and supplies
Help coordinate tools, parts, and equipment needed for repairs
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment
Complete basic maintenance documentation and service records
Follow all safety procedures and shop policies
Requirements
Entry to mid-level mechanical knowledge, experience, or training required
Basic understanding of diesel engines, trucks, or heavy equipment
Valid driver’s license required
Ability to work well with management and senior technicians
Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn
Ability to work overtime when needed
Physical & Job Requirements
Ability to lift, push, and pull 50+ pounds
Stand, kneel, bend, and work on concrete floors for extended periods
Use hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment safely
Work in a shop environment with exposure to noise, grease, oils, and solvents
Pay & Benefits
$18–$24 per hour, based on experience
40 hours per week, with overtime opportunities
