Position Summary
The Diesel Mechanic – Pipeline Division is responsible for the inspection, preventive maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of company vehicles and construction equipment. This role supports a mixed fleet that includes light-duty trucks, dump trucks, lowboys, trailers, and heavy construction equipment such as excavators, dozers, and skid steers. The ideal candidate is mechanically proficient, safety-driven, and comfortable working both in the shop and in the field as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on fleet vehicles and heavy construction equipment
Diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, braking systems, and drivetrains
Conduct DOT and state inspections where licensed
Complete post-repair testing to ensure equipment is operating safely and correctly
Respond to field service calls and assist with emergency repairs as required
Accurately document inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities
Support parts ordering, inventory control, and shop organization
Maintain compliance with all company safety policies and procedures
Communicate effectively with supervisors, equipment managers, and field personnel
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Equipment Manager
Qualifications
Demonstrated experience as a diesel mechanic or heavy equipment technician
Strong working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical diagnostics
Experience servicing construction equipment and DOT-regulated vehicles
Valid driver’s license required
CDL Class A preferred or willingness to obtain
PA State Inspection License preferred or willingness to obtain
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks
Basic computer skills for work orders and maintenance tracking
Strong attention to detail with a commitment to safety and quality workmanship
Working Conditions
Primarily shop-based with periodic field service work
Combination of indoor and outdoor work environments
Exposure to varying weather conditions
Overtime and weekend availability may be required during peak project schedules
