Diesel/Heavy Equipment Mechanic (CDL A) – Job Description
Essel is seeking a reliable and skilled Diesel/Heavy Equipment Mechanic with a CDL A license to join our operations team. This role is responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing diesel engines and heavy equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. The candidate will be expected to have a strong knowledge of diesel mechanics and heavy equipment systems, as well as the ability to drive commercial vehicles as required.
Key Responsibilities:
• Inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel engines, heavy equipment machinery, hydraulic systems, and electrical components.
• Conduct routine and preventive maintenance to minimize equipment downtime.
• Operate and drive heavy equipment and commercial vehicles safely under CDL A regulations.
• Perform troubleshooting and make necessary repairs to diesel engines and equipment components.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
• Collaborate with the operations team to ensure all equipment meets safety and operational standards.
• Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including DOT regulations.
• Ensure the cleanliness and proper functioning of tools and work area.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a diesel mechanic or heavy equipment mechanic program preferred.
• Minimum of 3-5 years experience in diesel and heavy equipment mechanic roles.
• Valid CDL Class A driver's license is required.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical wiring, and heavy equipment maintenance.
• Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues efficiently.
• Good physical condition and ability to work in various environments.
• Ability to work independently or in a team setting.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime as necessary.
