Designer - Social Media

DIGITAL DESIGNER

thelab is looking for a digital designer (4+ years relevant experience) to join our team in Flatiron, NYC.

Job Requirements: 

The Digital Designer will report to the Creative Director and work with a team of designers, copywriters, developers, and producers on new and current projects. We’re looking for a range of design and creative capabilities, which include:

Digital design experience: You’ll be working on  social media ad campaigns, banners, and social content creation (static and animated). You'll also get involved in responsive websites and landing pages from time to time

Social Media Design & Strategy: You’re familiar with the latest social media trends and know how to design engaging assets that drive interaction and perform well across platforms. You understand how to adapt your designs for each platform—whether it’s Instagram, Pinterest, TikTok, or Facebook. You’re also excited at the prospect of collaborating with Creators and Influencers to produce UGC-style content that feels authentic and resonates with audiences.

A love affair with design: We’re looking for someone who is just as obsessed as we are about beautiful typography, photography, and layout.

An understanding of motion design: We’re looking for someone who is a strong motion storyteller and can efficiently storyboard dynamic, engaging creative. While animation skills aren’t necessary, you should be able to conceptualize and plan motion that enhances the narrative and captivates audiences

Conceptual thinking: All ideas welcome. If you can make it, we’ll pitch it.

Grace after the 10th round: Some clients are easier than others. A big part of this job is being okay with client feedback and revisions.

A grown-up attitude: we don’t do drama here ☺ 

Extra credit: Experience with photo and video shoot production.

Social media savvy, with a curated Instagram folder full of outstanding digital ads and design inspiration.

A team player who knows how to collaborate with copywriters, developers, and creative directors to execute ideas to perfection.

A lover of all the details that obsesses over perfectly kerned type, ensuring every layout is meticulously polished, you have an eagle eye for precision and a passion for refining every element until it’s just right.

A self-starter who is comfortable working independently and taking initiative, but also knows when to ask for feedback and work within a team.

Specifics:

Hybrid work (in office Tues-Thurs next to Madison Square Park)

Salary $75,000-$80,000/year
