The anticipated annual equivalent salary for this position is $44,850 CAD. Salary is based on relevant experience, expertise, and organizational impact.

Welcome to Ignite, DEPT®'s internship for Black individuals.

As it’s challenging for Black professionals to break into the marketing/advertising industry, an initiative has been created and is dedicated to changing that by hiring, retaining and developing Black people in this sector. This opportunity is open to those seeking to start their career in design, and is perfect for a current university student or someone who already has a little experience, whether self-taught, from a previous role, or an education course.

As a Design intern for the Ignite program, you’ll be supporting on designing a variety of creative campaigns, brainstorming innovative and exciting ideas to be pitched to clients, and seeing things fruition into fully moulded concepts.

Within the Ignite internship, you will have a Black mentor and/or line manager who will help guide and support you. This will ensure that we can meet your needs at both a business and personal level.

JOB PURPOSE

With support from your mentor, you will work on a broad range of projects for some of the largest, well-recognised brands in the world and you’ll get to be a part of that too.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Image sourcing and artworking.

• Support with the designing of: responsive emails and landing pages, new and existing onsite marketing templates, paid marketing assets for social media and display.

• Assist in developing rich visual content for weekly newsletters.

• Applying creativity to adhoc projects.

• Always striving to create work that contributes to client business goals.

• Researching competitors and staying current with design and marketing trends.

• Contributing innovative ideas at creative review meetings.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• Keen interest in digital design.

• An understanding of Sketch or Figma is advantageous.

• Excellent knowledge of the Adobe suite.

• Good eye for layout, skilled in typesetting and retouching.

• A great teammate that supports their colleagues and doesn’t act as an individual.

• Very organised with attention to detail.

• Has a desire to embrace new skills and challenges.
