We are seeking a passionate and innovative Design and Technology Teacher to join our academic team. The ideal candidate will bring strong subject expertise in Design and Technology, combined with the ability to inspire creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving among students. This role requires an educator who can effectively deliver engaging lessons, integrate practical and theoretical knowledge, and foster a hands-on learning environment that prepares students for modern technological challenges.
Requirements:
Key Responsibilities
• Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality lessons in Design and Technology across assigned grade levels.
• Develop schemes of work and lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and learning objectives.
• Teach core areas including product design, materials technology, digital design, mechanical systems, electronics, and emerging technologies.
• Guide students through the complete design process — research, ideation, prototyping, testing, evaluation, and refinement.
• Encourage innovation, creativity, and independent thinking through project-based learning.
• Supervise practical workshop sessions, ensuring safety procedures and proper use of tools and equipment.
• Assess, evaluate, and provide constructive feedback on student work and projects.
• Maintain accurate academic records and track student progress.
• Collaborate with colleagues to integrate interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
• Organize exhibitions, competitions, and technology showcases to promote student work.
Required Skills and Competencies
Design Expertise
• Strong understanding of design principles, design thinking methodology, and creative problem-solving techniques.
• Proficiency in sketching, modeling, prototyping, and concept development.
• Familiarity with CAD software and digital design tools.
• Knowledge of materials (wood, metal, plastics, composites) and their properties.
• Ability to guide students in developing aesthetically appealing and functional products.
Technology Proficiency
• Hands-on experience with workshop tools, machines, and safety practices.
• Understanding of electronics, basic robotics, automation, and mechanical systems.
• Exposure to emerging technologies such as 3D printing, laser cutting, IoT, and digital fabrication.
• Ability to integrate technology-driven learning approaches in the classroom.
• Strong awareness of sustainable design and modern manufacturing processes.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design, Technology, Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
• B.Ed. or equivalent teaching qualification (preferred).
• 2–12 years of relevant teaching or industry experience in Design and Technology.
