Design and Implementation Engineer, Transmission Engineering

Role Purpose 

The Transmission Engineering team in EXA is responsible for driving the network strategy, planning, design and integration of projects for the proper functioning of all Transmission systems within lifetime including the deployment, maintenance, support, upgrade or retirement of such systems. Proactively reviewing current architecture and capabilities, testing and evaluating new Transmission technologies, and implementing improvements, providing network optimization from cost per bit or space & power aspects.  

The team maintains a high level of technical Transmission proficiency and function which will involve managing vendor relationships and coordinating and cooperating with field and operations staff across a European Network. 

We re looking for Design and Implementation engineer with primary focus on Designing the solutions on the EXA’s WDM/OTN (primary) and L2 Ethernet (secondary) networks.  

Key responsibilities 

To design and integrate transmission WDM/OTN solutions as primary function.  

To design and integrate transmission L2 Ethernet solutions as primary function.  

To support pre-sale process providing technical expertise within and out of EXA standard transmission products. 

To work with operation groups, product development and engineering teams to ensure that network and customer requirements are fully understood, captured, designed and implemented. 

Monitor and maintain capacity overhead in transmission systems with plans to support rapid turn-up of additional bandwidth. 

To design and/or develop network enhancements/efficiency based upon new platforms or technology. 

To contribute towards the definition of the target technical architecture for EXA’s network, and to put in place migration programs to implement the architecture. 

To be proactive in removing barriers that hazard project completion. 

Individual Profile 

Strong WDM/OTN design experience in System Integrator/network provider. 

Knowledge of DWDM technology, Infinera (DTN, DTNX, XT, GX, ILS-1/2/3) is an advantage. 

L2 Ethernet design experience in System Integrator/network provider. 

Knowledge of L2 Ethernet technology based on MPLS-TP, Infinera 7090 platform is an advantage. 

Knowledge of overall telecoms infrastructure such as Dark Fibre, Colo, Metro, Local Access. 

Excellent attention to detail and think objectively. 

Able to work under pressure and on own initiativ
