A Deputy City Marshal Trainee job is available with the City of Fort Worth Municipal Court Marshal’s Division. The Fort Worth Marshal’s Division is a law enforcement agency that is tasked with arresting wanted parties, bailiff duties at the Municipal Court, provide physical security at select Fort Worth facilities, and patrolling Lake Worth. The Marshal’s Division is made up of four sections: Building Security, Warrants, Lake Patrol, and Bike Patrol.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma/GED

• Ability to speak, read, and write the English language

• Valid Texas Driver’s License

• Ability to complete a Texas Basic Peace Officer’s Certification (BPOC) Academy and obtain a Basic Texas Peace Officer’s License

Special Requirements:

• Must be age 21 and older

• Must be a United States Citizen

• Must pass a psychological examination and be declared in writing, by a licensed psychologist or psychiatrist, to be in satisfactory psychological and emotional health for licensing as a peace officer

• Must be able to pass physical agility testing, including, but not limited to, a

• DPS rower test

• 100-meter unassisted swim. 2,000-meter row — must be completed within 11 minutes (two attempts permitted)

• Handcuffing an individual — pass/fail

• Vertical lift of 30 lbs. — pass/fail

• Vertical lift of 50 lbs. — pass/fail

• Must pass all other minimum standards and particular requirements outlines in the Fort Worth Marshals Division hiring procedures

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong communication skills (written and verbal)

• Strong computer skills (Outlook 365, web-based databases and operating systems)

• A successful track record of being an adult learner (Trade School, College, Certification courses etc.)

The Deputy City Marshal Trainee job responsibilities include:

• Complete a BPOC Academy

• Obtain a Basic Police Officers license

• Obtain a Marine Safety Officers certification

• Complete the Field Training Program

• Obtaining all necessary certifications (First Aid, CPR, Shotgun, NARCAN, etc.)

• Maintain a satisfactory physical fitness level

Physical Demand

Medium work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.

Working Conditions

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, swimming, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting.

Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position: Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A Misdemeanor Conviction, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions in the last 10 years, Class A Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication in the last 10 years, an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and ALL Family Violence Convictions regardless of class.
