About The Role
The Deployment Field Technician II is responsible for preparing, configuring, installing, and enabling Point-of-Sale (POS) systems and related technology for retail locations. The role supports the entire deployment and implementation
life-cycle—from staging and testing equipment in the warehouse to performing on-site installation, configuration, training, and troubleshooting in the field. The Deployment Field Technician II operates independently at client locations and are expected to demonstrate strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and professionalism while representing the company. Installations typically include hardware setup, network connectivity, cable routing, and coordination with internal teams to ensure successful and timely deployments.
In addition to technical deployment and implementation responsibilities, the Deployment Field Technician II also owns the regional fulfillment center’s
inventory management, maintaining accurate equipment stock levels, organizing deployment kits, and coordinating logistics to support ongoing field installations and service needs.
What You’ll Own & Drive
System Preparation & Staging
Stage, configure, and test POS systems, pinpads, scanners, printers, and related peripherals prior to deployment
Install and configure Windows-based systems and required software
Verify system functionality and network connectivity prior to packaging
Prepare equipment kits for field installations or shipment
Logistics & Packaging
Carefully pack and label equipment for transportation or shipment
Maintain organized staging areas and accurate inventory of deployment equipment
Ensure all required components are included prior to deployment
Field Installation & Deployment
Perform on-site installation of POS systems and associated equipment at retail locations
Install and mount hardware including terminals, scanners, receipt printers, and pinpads
Run and manage network and power cabling under counters, through ceilings, or behind equipment while maintaining a professional appearance
Connect and test systems on site to ensure proper functionality before completion
Troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity issues during installation
Implementation & Client Enablement
Act as the implementation manager for new client deployments, ensuring successful enablement and system readiness
Provide hands-on training to store staff and managers on POS system operation, payment processing, online delivery operation, and basic troubleshooting
Guide clients through system workflows and best practices to ensure smooth adoption
Serve as the primary technical contact during initial rollout and stabilization period
Operate company vehicle to transport equipment to various client sites
Perform daily on-site visits to client locations throughout the region
Inventory Management & Regional Fulfillment
Own and manage inventory for the Regional Fulfillment Center supporting field deployments
Maintain accurate records of hardware inventory including POS terminals, peripherals, networking equipment, and installation materials
Track incoming and outgoing equipment to ensure inventory accuracy and availability for scheduled deployments
Assemble and maintain standardized deployment kits for technicians and field installations
Coordinate equipment replenishment and communicate re-stock needs to management
Maintain organized storage and inventory processes to support efficient staging and shipment operations
Qualifications:
Ability to prioritize tasks based on urgency and business impact; troubleshoot issues using logical, step-by-step problem-solving
Capable of working independently in the field with minimal supervision while managing multiple deployment tasks
Strong attention to detail with the ability to execute installations accurately under tight timelines
Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, floor plans, and network schematics
Experience installing, terminating, and testing structured cabling
Familiarity with mounting and installing hardware including network racks, switches, access points, POS systems, and low-voltage devices
Basic networking knowledge (IP addressing, connectivity troubleshooting, routers/switches)
Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with clients, vendors, and internal teams
Adaptability in fast-paced or changing deployment environments
A valid California driver's license is required for this position because driving to client locations is an essential job function that cannot be reliably performed by alternative transportation due to transporting company equipment to client installs
Ability to maintain a clean driving record for operation of company-owned vehicles
Physical Demands
Ability to work in office, retail, and field environments (including construction or pre-build sites)
Ability to stand, walk, kneel, crawl, and work in tight or overhead spaces for extended periods
Ability to lift and move equipment up to 35 lbs independently and up to 75 lbs with assistance
Manual dexterity to use hand and power tools for installation and cabling
Ability to climb ladders and work at heights when required
Flexibility to work non-standard hours, including nights, weekends, and travel as needed
Education & Experience
3+ years of hands-on experience in deployment, field services, low-voltage installation, or IT infrastructure support.
Proven experience with structured cabling installation and termination.
Experience installing and configuring network equipment (routers, switches, wireless access points)
Experience with POS systems, retail technology, or multi-site business deployments preferred
Proficiency using installation tools (punch-down tools, cable testers, crimpers, drills, etc.)
Familiarity with ticketing systems and documenting work performed
Strong customer-facing experience in on-site service environments

Compensation : Hourly $28.00-$38.00
