Job Description

At Blount Rural Health Center, our goal is to provide the highest quality of care to our patients. The Dental Front Office Specialist is the first face the patient sees and usually, most times, the last face they see before they leave. A smiling face and friendly attitude are a must for this role. This job description entails the responsibilities of Dental Front Office Specialist; however, this is not an all-inclusive list as the position requires flexibility and acceptance of other tasks as assigned.

Job Duties:

Welcomes patients and visitors by greeting with a friendly smile and attitude in person or on the telephone

Ensuring that appropriate customer service is provided during phone and person to person contacts with health care consumers, other staff members and external suppliers

Requires all vendors to sign in and out when doing business within the clinic

Uses computerized system to book, switch, adjust, and cancel appointments

Utilizes proper judgement for scheduling appropriate time for appointments

Fill in cancellations and no-show appointments to assure highest production daily

Assures completeness of new patient paperwork, including consent to treatment

Confirms insurance benefits

Collects payments from patients at time of service

Processes Insurance Payments

Prepares insurance claims either by paper or electronically

Submits supporting documents or documentation for pre-authorizations

May oversee referrals for dental specialist

Safeguards patients’ privacy and confidentiality

Monitors front office supply and equipment needs

Keeps front lobby clean and sanitized           

Participates in staff meetings

Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

Conserves resources by elimination of waste, adequate care of supplies and equipment

Physical Requirements:

Required to sit, stand, walk, bend, twist frequently throughout the day. May be required to lift up to 40 pounds, as needed.
