Job Description

Location: Remote, Seattle or Los Angeles preferred

Type: Full-time

Skylight is a technology startup based out of Los Angeles and San Francisco. Our mission is to connect loved ones by creating the world’s simplest products and services that improve family life. We make consumer products, like Skylight Frame and Skylight Calendar, that are loved by millions of people across the globe. Our founders are former venture capitalists and serial entrepreneurs, who have scaled this business to $180M+ in annual revenue while being completely bootstrapped and profitable. We think often about the thousands of smiles we are able to put on our customers’ faces each day, and it fills our hearts with purpose. That’s why we have been working hard to expand our team and invent, so that we can continue to bring the magic of Skylight to millions of loved ones throughout the world.

What You’ll Own

In this role you’ll help build, own, and improve the forecast engine that turns performance signals (traffic, impressions, conversion rates, in-stock levels, store counts, sell-through) and consumer signals (macroeconomic trends and our own customer behavior) into actionable demand and revenue plans. You’ll live at the intersection of commercial, finance, and supply chain — translating marketing and eCommerce metrics into retailer-level forecasts and aligning those forecasts with inventory and operations readiness across the wholesale channel.

Responsibilities:

• Partner with Retail Sales, Marketing, eCommerce, Commercial, Finance, and Supply Chain teams to align assumptions (e.g. product launches, promotional activity, channel shifts) and translate those into forecast inputs.
• Serve as the operations lead on retailer-specific planning calls.

• Develop and maintain the weekly bottom-up forecast model for the wholesale channel globally.
• Take market and operational indicators and translate them into SKU-level demand and revenue projections.
• Wholesale channels: Analyze weekly sales and inventory data across all retailers to highlight risks, opportunities, and make recommendations for adjustments. This includes tracking and ingesting store counts, in-stock / out-of-stock rates, sell-through rates.
• Examples of key retailers today (Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Costco)

• Develop and execute assortment and promotional strategies based on current run rate performance.
• Support the monthly & quarterly forecast cadence: prepare and present forecast vs. actual analyses, identify risks and upside opportunities, document assumptions and scenarios.
• Provide recommendations on possible solutions and allocations across the channels,

• Work hand in hand with Operations Planning and Supply Chain to ensure forecasts translate into inventory, procurement and replenishment plans.
• Continuously improve forecasting processes, tools, and metrics: bring data, automation, visualization, scenario planning and best practices into the model so we get smarter and faster.
• Be a trusted business partner: take your forecast insights, highlight where things are deviating, help steer decisions on marketing spend, inventory investment, channel shifts and product launches.

What Sets You Apart

This role is not for everyone. You will thrive here if you:

• Can find the 1-2 things that actually drive outcomes or that will really make a difference for any given goal.
• Feel comfortable in ambiguity. You don’t need a roadmap handed to you—you’ll make one.
• Can both execute while designing repeatable processes that work in practice.
• Care deeply. You show up with curiosity, vulnerability, and good intent.

Requirements:
Must-Haves

• 5-8 years of experience in demand planning, revenue forecasting, analytics or similar for physical products, ideally in an omnichannel company.
• Prior Retail Planning experience, or experience working with a major US Retailer (e.g. Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Costco).
• Experience with 3rd party retailer portals (e.g. Retail Link or Circana)

• Strong experience blending digital performance metrics (traffic, impressions, conversion) and wholesale/retail pipeline (store count, sell-through, in-stock/out-of-stock) into forecast models.
• Excellent technical skills: advanced Excel or Google Sheets, scenario modelling, ability to build and maintain forecast tools.
• A track record of partnering cross-functionally (Commercial, Marketing, Finance, Operations) and translating forecasts into business-impact actions.
• Excellent communication skills: ability to tell the story behind the numbers, present to leadership, and influence decision-making.
• Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, Economics, Analytics or similar.
• Entrepreneurial mindset: comfortable in a fast-moving environment, able to deal with ambiguity, take ownership, and continuously improve.

Nice-to-Haves

• Prior experience working with a sales function is a plus.
• Prior eCommerce Planning experience (DTC and Amazon) is a plus.
• Prior experience with CPFR and JBP processes strongly preferred.
