Position Title: Deli Team Member

Reports To: Deli Manager / Shift Lead
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Position Overview
The Deli Team Member plays a key role in delivering excellent food quality and customer service within our deli department. This position is responsible for preparing, cooking, and serving food items, maintaining a clean and organized work environment, and supporting overall deli operations. Flexibility, teamwork, and a strong work ethic are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation & Cooking
Prepare, season, cook, bake, and fry food items according to company recipes and safety standards.
Operate fryers, ovens, steam tables, and other kitchen equipment safely and correctly.
Follow proper portioning and presentation guidelines.
Assist with daily prep work, including chopping, slicing, and assembling ingredients.
Service & Customer Interaction
Serve customers at the steam table line with speed, accuracy, and a positive attitude.
Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked service line at all times.
Answer customer questions about menu items and provide recommendations when appropriate.
Dishwashing & Cleaning
Wash dishes, utensils, pans, and equipment using proper sanitation procedures.
Keep workstations, prep areas, and storage areas clean and orderly.
Follow all sanitation, handwashing, and food-safety regulations.
Operations & Teamwork
Assist with opening and closing duties as assigned.
Check temperatures, rotate stock, and ensure proper food storage.
Communicate any product shortages or equipment issues to the shift lead or manager.
Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while supporting other team members as needed.
Qualifications
Prior experience in a deli, cafeteria, or kitchen environment preferred but not required.
Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive motions.
Able to lift up to 40 lbs and handle hot equipment safely.
Strong communication skills and a customer-first mindset.
Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work in a team environment.
Work Environment & Schedule
Fast-paced kitchen/deli environment requiring regular standing, lifting, bending, and reaching.
Must be available for various shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
