At PwC, our purpose is clear: to build trust in society and solve important problems. This is a place to keep growing, where you’ll work on meaningful transactions, learn from experienced leaders, and build a strong foundation for a career in M&A and advisory.
Ngā kōrero mō tēnei tūranga / About the role
PwC New Zealand is the leading M&A advisor in the market and the only Big 4 firm with a fully integrated deals capability across M&A, infrastructure, debt advisory, property and transaction services, advising on many of New Zealand’s most significant and complex transactions.
We’re seeking a Senior Analyst to join our Corporate Finance (Deals) team in Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland. As a Senior Analyst, you will also take ownership of financial modelling and valuation workstreams, playing a key role across the full transaction lifecycle. You will work directly with senior leaders and clients on a range of M&A, strategic advisory and valuation engagements.
The role provides exposure to a diverse client base including privately owned businesses, corporates, financial sponsors / private equity, public sector agencies and Māori organisations. With a collaborative, hands-on team culture, you’ll be given responsibility early and supported to build confidence and progress quickly.
In this role, you will:
• Support buy-side and sell-side transactions, including transaction analysis, due diligence support and execution activities
• Build, review and own financial models and business valuations, including DCFs, trading and transaction comparables, and scenario analysis
• Prepare high-quality client deliverables such as information memoranda (IMs), investment papers, valuation reports, and board and shareholder presentations
• Analyse financial performance, growth drivers, risks and value creation opportunities to support investment decisions, pricing and negotiation strategy
• Support transaction execution, including data room management, coordination with other advisors, and responding to buyer and investor queries
• Work closely with Partners, Directors and Managers to deliver commercially robust, technically sound advice
• Continue to build your commercial judgement, transaction experience and professional confidence, with a clear pathway toward Manager-level responsibility.
Ngā pūkenga ka kawea mai e koe / Skills and experience
• Tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Business Administration or a related discipline (e.g., economics, mathematics/statistics, law, engineering).
• 3-5 years experience in corporate finance, investment banking, transaction advisory, or financial markets (Big 4 or similar preferred)
• Advanced Excel skills, with proven experience building and reviewing financial models and valuations
• Strong analytical capability, with the ability to produce clear, board-ready written outputs
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with confidence contributing in deal teams and client discussions
• A proactive mindset, strong time management and the ability to perform in fast-paced deal environments
• Progress towards CFA or CA qualifications is desirable.
