Position Type: Seasonal - Summer (one F/T, one P/T)
Dates: June 22-August 28, 2026
Hours of Work: Monday-Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm (P/T hours will vary)
Job Summary:
The Lifeguards are responsible for the safety and well-being of campers in all lakefront activities, training camp staff, volunteers and campers in waterfront safety procedures as well as delivering basic canoe and kayak instruction.
Duties:
Provide lifeguard and waterfront safety supervision for water-based activities at FortWhyte Alive
Assist other camp staff in delivery of camp programs
Delivery of water safety sessions to staff, counsellors and campers
Develop water program schedule in conjunction with other camp staff
Maintain a safe and controlled atmosphere during water activities
Maintaining inventory of First Aid supplies
Administering First Aid to campers
Maintain cleanliness of FortWhyte camp setting, inside and out
Prepare a final report
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Current National Lifeguard, CPR and Standard First Aid certifications
Experience lifeguarding in a summer camp waterfront setting.
Experience working with children
Strong oral communication skills
Proven behaviour management and problem-solving skills
Valid Driver’s License and daily access to a vehicle
Assets:
Experience and/or certification in canoeing, kayaking, sailing, and/or archery
Child abuse registry check and criminal records check required upon hiring
