About the Role
As a Database Engineer - NoSQL at Trendyol, you will design, deploy, and optimize distributed databases such as Elasticsearch, Redis, Cassandra, Couchbase, and MongoDB to support real-time, large-scale workloads. You will take ownership of database operations across the full lifecycle, including capacity planning, replication, backup/restore, disaster recovery, and version upgrades. You will proactively improve reliability through automation and observability tooling. You will collaborate closely with backend teams to investigate performance issues and resolve production incidents. This position is well-suited for engineers who excel in distributed systems, enjoy solving complex data challenges, and thrive in fast-paced, large-scale environments.

Responsibilites:
• Maintain, optimize, and plan database capacity to ensure maximum availability, performance, and reliability.
• Design, configure, and tune Elasticsearch clusters, queries, and indexing (including ILM and shard strategies).
• Optimize Redis infrastructure (pub/sub, persistence, eviction policies).
• Architect and maintain Cassandra clusters with CQL optimization.
• Manage Couchbase replication (XDCR), bucket strategies, and N1QL tuning.
• Proactively monitor system metrics using modern observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Alertmanager).
• Lead PoCs and evaluations of new NoSQL technologies based on evolving platform needs.
• Collaborate with backend and DevOps teams to solve real-time performance and reliability challenges.
• Provides a single point of contact related to DB operations and triage incoming requests.
• Automate repetitive tasks and manual processes through infrastructure code (IaC).
• Strong knowledge in software development, build, release and code analysis and DevOps tools such as Git, Ansible, Terraform.
• Handle backups, restores, and HADR operations.
• Available in rotation on-call for critical event handling.

Expected Qualifications:
• Extensive experience (4+ years) in administering and optimizing NoSQL systems under production workloads, ensuring reliability, scalability, and efficiency.
• Hands-on experience with at least three of: Elasticsearch, Redis, Cassandra, Couchbase, MongoDB.
• Deep understanding of NoSQL consistency models, CAP Theorem, cluster design, replication and sharding.
• Proficiency in Linux systems, kernel/OS tuning, and scripting (Bash, Python, Go).
• Experience operating high-throughput, multi-node NoSQL systems in production.
• Proficiency in managing backup & recovery, version upgrades, patching, and performance tuning across key NoSQL platforms including Elasticsearch, Redis, Apache Cassandra, Couchbase, and MongoDB.
• Deep expertise in analyzing and optimizing query performance, indexing approaches, and data partitioning across NoSQL systems like Elasticsearch, MongoDB, Couchbase, and Cassandra.
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills, excellent documentation, teamwork and good communication skills.
• Experience with geo-redundant database deployments (active/active, active/standby).
• Solid understanding of StatefulSets, PVCs, StorageClasses, and Pod Disruption Budgets in the context of database reliability.
• Providing overnight and off-hours support as part of a support team.
• Working with OpenStack or VMware infrastructure is a plus.
• Public cloud management is a plus (AWS, GCP, Azure, Alibaba Cloud).
• Highly adaptable with the ability to work in a fast-paced demanding environment.
