VAM Systems is currently looking for DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR for our Bahrain operations with the following skillsets & terms and conditions:
Experience:
• Minimum 3 years in database related role
• Experience supporting AWS
Preferred:
 
• AWS Certification
Skills:
• Proficient in database administration, backup/recovery, and performance tuning.
• Understanding of cloud database operations (RDS snapshots, scaling, monitoring).
• Hands-on with Linux administration and shell scripting.
• Familiarity with DevOps tools and deployment.
• Basic knowledge of data warehousing and BI workflows.
• Experience with SQL skills for reporting optimization.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and documentation skills.
• Good teamwork and communication skills with cross-functional teams.
• Availability outside of working hours to resolve emergency issues promptly
 
Educational Qualification & Certifications:
 
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
 
Roles & Responsibilities:
 
• Create, configure, and maintain databases for production, development, and test environments.
• Perform database installation, configuration, and patching for Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
• Support AWS RDS administration including parameter tuning, backups, and maintenance tasks.
• Execute daily health checks, performance monitoring, and alert analysis.
• Perform backup and recovery operations
• Manage database users, roles, and permissions following least-privilege principles.
• Implement and monitor security controls including encryption, access logging, and password policies.
• Assist in migrations and upgrades
• Support incident management by troubleshooting performance and availability issues.
• Participate in capacity planning, performance tuning, and resource optimization activities.
• Assist in documentation of configurations, recovery steps, and maintenance tasks.
• Ensure data integrity and consistency through validation and constraint management.
• Work closely with system, application, and development teams to support database-related activities.

• Participate in DR tests and failover simulations.
• Support ETL jobs and reporting databases.

• Maintain consistency between transactional and analytical systems.
• Continuously learn new tools and technologies in the AWS and open-source database ecosystem
