Context 📄

As a Data Scientist specializing in Credit Risk modeling, you will be a core member of the Credit Modelling and Portfolio Management team within the Risk & Data department, involved in credit modelling (scoring, PD/LGD, valuation) and credit exposure optimization (debt investors relation, NPL strategy, balance-sheet monitoring).

You will play a key role in developing and maintaining robust credit risk models that support both new loan origination and portfolio valuation, ensuring transparency and proactive risk management for a fast-growing, listed consumer lending business.
This role is strategic and unique, combining data-intensive modeling with the ability to step back and address high-level questions directly with ExCo members, in a context of a newly listed company expanding its product suite and underlying models.

Key responsibilities 🚀

In this role, your primary focus will be on developing and maintaining PD/LGD/EAD models, integrating them into operational processes, and ensuring their performance through rigorous monitoring and governance. This is a strategic and unique role as it covers data and model intensive activities while requiring to step back and get the global picture and address strategic questions directly with Exco members, in a context of a newly listed company, expanding product and consequently the suite of underling models.

Model Development and deployment :
- Design, develop, and maintain PD/LGD/EAD models for both new origination and portfolio risk management.
- Integrate feedback from our institutional investor base (e.g. on performing and non-performing loans), and rating agencies in the modelling process
- Adress ad-hoc segments
- Deploy model in production using our modern stack (Python, DBT, BigQuery)
- Ensure full model documentation aligned with internal validation and audit requirements

Model Analytics & integration :
- Ensure model outputs are correctly feeding into credit risk monitoring and integrating in Younited data platform
- Provide insights to the Local Business Units and to the rest of the risk team regarding the evolution of credit risk

Governance :
- Drive the half-yearly assumption review committee with the CEO, CRO, CFO, upon which the PD/LGD/EAD parameters are validated
- Support model validation reviews, audits, and regulatory inspections
- Collaborate on defining and prioritizing the credit risk modeling roadmap in line with group strategy

About you 👇

- Master’s degree or PhD in quantitative fields such as statistics, mathematics, data science, or engineering
- 2 to 5 years of experience in credit risk modeling, with hands-on involvement in PD/LGD/EAD model development
- Proficient in SQL & python
- Strong analytical rigor, autonomy, attention to detail, and ability to work in cross-functional teams
- Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with international collaboration (including auditors and group-level stakeholders)
