Data Science Team Manager - Commercial

The Commercial Data Science & Machine Learning team at Squarespace is looking for a Data Science Team Manager. Our team develops and integrates data science models into company practices and the product to unlock value for Squarespace and its customers.

In this role, you will support investment decisions by leading data scientists to deliver high-impact models end-to-end, from initial scoping and requirements gathering to final deployment. In addition to team leadership, you will contribute hands-on to production machine-learning and statistical models, experimental design, and causal inference techniques.

This is a hybrid role working from our NYC office 3 days per week. You will report to the Senior Manager of Data Science & Machine Learning.

You'll Get To…

• Manage a Data Science team, including project planning, technical leadership, and mentorship

• Work hands-on with the team to design, deploy, and maintain statistical and machine-learning models in business- and customer-facing applications; for example, marketing mix modeling, customer lifetime value modeling, and financial risk modeling.

• Collaborate with Analysts, Engineers, and Product Managers to deliver data solutions

• Drive the strategic roadmap by identifying new opportunities to solve business challenges with modeling

• Translate business needs to technical roadmaps and ensure alignment between technical and business partners.

• Continuously validate and improve model performance through iterative testing, tuning, and feature engineering

• Research advancements in AI, data science, and ML to evaluate potential applications of new technology

Who We're Looking For

• 8+ years of experience working in Data Science roles, with 1+ years experience leading teams

• Experience leading cross-functional projects to completion, managing project timelines and deliverables

• Excellent communication skills to explain complex analyses to technical and non-technical audiences

• People management skills, including mentorship of team members and elevating the skills of the entire team.

• Experience building and deploying models in a production environment

• Strong competency with Python and SQL

Cash Compensation Range: $153,500 - $247,250 USD

The base salary for this position will vary based on job-related criteria including relevant skills, experience, and location, among other factors.

In addition to the cash compensation above (which includes base salary and, where applicable for eligible roles, may include overtime pay), Squarespace employees are eligible to be granted an option to purchase our common stock. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive structure in addition to base salary.
