HP is revolutionizing the way our customers experience and use our products, as well as the way we do business. We are seeking an experienced Data Platform Operations Engineer to lead efforts in building a robust data ecosystem for the HP Digital Enablement organization. This role will also work strategically to align Data Governance, Quality, Privacy, and Cybersecurity initiatives at the organizational level. In addition, the position includes responsibility for implementing requirements and processes that ensure HP’s high ethical standards are met throughout the data usage lifecycle. HP places a high value on being a leader in data protection, which begins with well-structured and actively managed data governance.
The Data Platform Operations Engineer will apply advanced subject-matter expertise to solve complex business issues and will be regarded as a subject matter expert. The role frequently contributes to the development of new ideas and methods and works on complex problems where analysis requires in-depth evaluation of multiple factors. The individual will lead and/or provide expertise to functional project teams and may participate in cross-functional initiatives. This role acts as an expert by providing direction and guidance on process improvements and policy establishment and frequently represents the organization to external customers or clients. The position exercises significant independent judgment within broadly defined policies and practices to determine the best methods for accomplishing work and achieving objectives.
Responsibilities
• Leads all stages of design and development for complex, secure, and high‑performance data solutions and models, including design, analysis, coding, testing, and integration of structured and unstructured data.
• Reviews and evaluates data pipelines and engineering activities for compliance with architecture, security, and quality guidelines and standards, providing actionable feedback to improve data quality and mitigate failure risk.
• Builds standards, designs, and automates the deployment of data products in cloud environments.
• Ensures and maintains a high level of operational efficiency by using tools to monitor system performance.
• Designs and develops solutions that protect and manage cloud‑native applications and data.
• Contributes to technology strategy and engineering roadmaps for cloud platforms and executes strategic engineering proof‑of‑concepts on those platforms.
• Delivers best‑practice recommendations, tutorials, blog articles, and technical presentations, adapting content to different levels of business and technical stakeholders.
• Drives innovation and integrates new technologies into projects and activities in the big data space.
• Provides guidance and mentoring to less experienced staff members.
Education and Experience Required
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Management, Engineering, Computer Sciences, with technology emphasis and or experience
• 7-10 years of relevant experience in managing data products, data quality and governance initiatives
• AWS, Databricks, Data Administration Management Association (DAMA) certifications preferred
