Data Modeler : A brief back-ground on role (typically for recruitment use)
· This role is for the Lead Logical Data Modeller, the Database platform will be Teradata. Most places Teradata Industry Standard model will be implemented.
· Technical Skills & Expertise Required Must have expertise in 3NF modelling.
· Must have exposure to one of the industry model, iLDM, produced by Teradata. Eg, FSLDM, cLDM, mLDM, rLDM etc.
· Must have taken the activity to understand the requirements, discuss with the Business to summarize them and convert them into Conceptual Data Model.
· Must have worked on one of the iLDM produced by Teradata,
· where by mapping of Business requirements to the Model are performed. Also customized the model to an extent, where requirements don’t map to any Subject Area/Facet/Entity/Attribute in the Model.
· Hands on experience in converting business definitions/conceptual model into LDM (logical data model) and converting LDM to PDM will be added advantage.
· Good exposure to Datawarehouse concepts. Understanding of Normalization and De-normalization concept.
· Hands on experience in Dimensional Modelling.
· Good knowledge of Teradata architecture.
· Must have used one of the industry standard Data Modelling tools, Erwin experience will be added advantage.
· Design technical solution for, setting up the data modelling and mapping standards, Meta-data for the Model and End to End mapping from source to PDM.
Good To have

Must have worked in Teradata 12.0 or greater environments.

Very good knowledge of Advanced Teradata concepts like Join strategy, Index choice, Performance Optimization, Compression, etc.

Experience in Teradata utilities BTEQ, MLOAD, FLOAD, TPUMP.

Exposure to query tuning.

Good understanding of ETL methodology.

Leadership Skills Should be able to lead the pool of Modellers.
