Data Engineering Team Leader

MyHeritage is hiring a Data Engineering Team Leader to lead our talented team in defining and building our data infrastructure and architecture. You’ll play a key leadership role planning, designing, and delivering MyHeritage’s data platform. Our business is built and powered by data — join us for the data democratization revolution!

You’ll work with diverse data types, including structured, unstructured, free-text, and DNA genome data.

You’ll gather and define the organization’s data requirements, working closely with dozens of stakeholders. You’ll take a holistic view of their challenges, define effective solutions, and lead and grow a high-performing data engineering team to implement them. You’ll ensure strong alignment and adoption across the organization.

What you bring

• 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer

• 3+ years of experience in engineering team management

• B.Sc. in computer science or equivalent

• High Proficiency in Python, Java or other OOP based languages

• Experience building robust & reliable data infrastructure

• Experience with Batch/Stream processing technologies (e.g. Airflow, Spark)

• Experience with AWS or another cloud-based environment

• Experience with SQL/No-SQL technologies

• Experience in leading large-scale projects

• Can-do, self-motivated attitude; ability to work well both independently and as part of a team

• Ability to define and lead data architectural guidelines, while aligning them with business stakeholders and organizational goals

What you’ll do

• Lead a team of talented data engineers while remaining hands-on with architecture, development, and deployment of data infrastructure. You’ll set the technical direction and lead by example through high-quality, scalable code.

• Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization including engineering, product, analytics, and operations to define and drive the next phase of our data infrastructure strategy.

• Design and evolve large-scale data models, schemas, and database architectures. Continuously optimize data workflows to support both real-time and batch use cases.

• Build and maintain robust data pipelines that power critical business functions. Evaluate and introduce new tools, frameworks, and best practices to advance our data platform.

• Implement comprehensive data quality and monitoring systems to ensure integrity, reliability, and trust in our data ecosystem.

• Mentor and support the growth of the data engineering team, fostering a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and collaboration.
