Data Engineer

The Protect360 BetterBid product is looking for an experienced Data Software Engineer.

BetterBid is a real-time decision engine operating directly on the bid path of large ad platforms. For every opportunity, it generates fraud and optimization signals before the budget is committed and before downstream systems even engage.

The system processes billions of bid requests per day (5M+ per second at peak) and returns decisions in ~10ms end-to-end. Behind it sits a data platform ingesting ~500B events per day (~465TB) from global mobile activity.

We build large-scale ETL and feature pipelines using BigQuery, Dataflow (Apache Beam), Dataform, and Airflow, and train ML models and generate statistical signals from massive historical datasets. The real-time layer consumes these artifacts via ultra-low-latency services backed by Bigtable, deployed across multiple regions to meet aggressive latency and availability targets.

Built at AppsFlyer, the world's leading mobile measurement and attribution platform, this is a greenfield initiative with new architecture, new infrastructure, and direct influence on product and business decisions. We own the system end-to-end: from Kubernetes and OpenTelemetry-based observability, through data pipelines and model serving, to high-performance backend services.

What you have

• 3+ years of development experience with a passion for excellence

• Experience in data engineering

• Experience in GCP ecosystem, including BigQuery, Dataform, Dataflow (Apache Beam)

• Experience with data orchestration tools like Airflow

• B.Sc. in computer science or an equivalent

• Excellent collaboration and teamwork skills

• A proactive, problem-solving mindset with a passion for learning and tackling new challenges

Bonus points

• Experience in backend real-time high throughput low latency systems

• Experience in Spark

• Familiarity with Terraform or other GitOps technologies

• Hands-on experience with GCP/AWS, including the ability to design, provision, set up, and operate cloud environments on multiple regions.
