Job Description
Mad Monkey Hostel Group is seeking a highly analytical and commercially minded Data Analyst - Product Performance to
to drive improved performance across our ancillary revenue streams, including Food & Beverage (F&B), travel and tour products, activities, and other ad-hoc guest offerings across multiple countries.
The successful candidate will be responsible for consolidating and analysing data from multiple operational systems (including Point-of-Sale platforms and booking tools), delivering actionable insights into sales, margins, product mix, pricing effectiveness, and cost control. These insights will directly contribute to improving product contribution overall property-level and group-level profitability.
Key Responsibilities
POS Data Management and Integration
Collect and standardise POS/booking data from all regions and systems to ensure consistency and reliability across the business.
Develop and implement automated data pipelines and dashboards to streamline reporting and analysis processes.
Maintain a high standard of data accuracy, actively troubleshooting and resolving any inconsistencies or data quality issues that arise.
Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, reduce manual reporting, and improve scalability through automation and improved system architecture.
Analysis and Insights
Analyse key financial and operational metrics, including sales volumes, Gross Profit percentage (GP%), menu mix, and margin performance, to enable strategic business decisions.
Identify top and bottom performing items and uncover opportunities to enhance margins through targeted analysis.
Support initiatives in menu engineering, pricing strategies, and promotional activities by providing rigorous, data-driven analysis.
Inventory and Cost Control
Support the Integration of POS data with inventory and procurement systems to provide a comprehensive, end-to-end view of resource usage and cost management.
Conduct variance analyses, comparing consumption versus sales, to identify potential waste, shrinkage, or issues with over-portioning.
Assist in maintaining accurate tracking of Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and support precise recipe costing and audit processes.
Dashboarding and Reporting
Create dynamic and insightful dashboards to monitor sales, REVOB, margins, menu engineering performance, and provide regional benchmarking comparisons.
Deliver detailed weekly and monthly F&B performance reports to both Operations and Finance teams to support ongoing monitoring and strategic decision-making.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with teams across Operations, Finance, and Commercial departments to ensure analytical insights are aligned with business goals and maximise commercial impact.
Present complex analytical insights in a clear, concise, and accessible manner, enabling non-technical stakeholders to take informed and effective action.
Technical Skills
Advanced skills in Excel/Google Sheets for complex data manipulation and modelling.
Experience with handling multi-source, high-volume datasets in a commercial environment.
Previous exposure to various POS systems and working with their APIs is highly desirable.
Exposure to SQL and business intelligence tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker Studio would be an advantage.
Experience
At least three years of proven experience in data analytics, preferably within the hospitality, multi-unit retail, or F&B sectors.
Strong understanding of key financial metrics and F&B processes, including GP%, REVOB, COGS, and wastage/variance analysis.
Soft Skills
Commercially minded, with a demonstrated ability to translate raw data into practical, value-driving business insights.
Excellent communication, presentation, and organisational skills, capable of managing multiple priorities.
Ability to work independently across various regions, demonstrating strong self-motivation, proactiveness, and adaptability.
