Overview of the Role
AML/CTF Data Analyst will be responsible for collating, reviewing, and providing first-level analysis of data sets provided by registry service providers, assisting Perpetual in detecting, preventing, and reporting suspicious activities in line with Australian Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorism Financing (CTF) regulations.
Main duties include:
• Review and analyse large sets of transactional and customer data to identify against a defined set of rules to determine patterns, anomalies, and potential breaches of AML/CTF rules.
• Prepare detailed summaries of findings for review by Perpetual operational and potentially compliance functions.
• Assist in the development and enhancement of data review methodologies and detection tools.
• Stay up to date with evolving AML/CTF legislation, regulations, and industry best practices.
Requirements:
• Tertiary qualification in business, finance, data analytics, information technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Demonstrated experience in data analysis, preferably within a financial services, banking, or regulatory environment.
• Some understanding of AML/CTF legislation and regulatory requirements (such as the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and identify trends or irregularities.
• Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, SQL, or similar).
• High attention to detail and accuracy in reviewing and reporting data.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey potentially complex findings clearly.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and confidential environment.
