Position Overview

We are seeking top professionals to fill the Senior Business Central Solution Developer – BC Upgrades Automation Engineer role. In this role, you will be a key member of our technical team, primarily responsible for process setup and upgrade automation in MS Dynamics 365 Business Central upgrades projects. 

This is a fully remote role for anyone located in the European time zone. 

Responsibilities

Design and implement upgrade processes for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central environments across various versions. 

Develop automation scripts and tools to streamline code merging, extension migration, and test data preparation. 

Lead technical planning and execution of complex upgrade projects, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity. 

Set up CI/CD pipelines for Business Central codebases using Azure DevOps or similar platforms. 

Collaborate with developers and consultants to identify upgrade blockers and refactor legacy customizations for compatibility. 

Maintain and optimize Docker-based environments for upgrade testing and sandbox replication. 

Standardize upgrade procedures and document reusable frameworks, reducing manual effort and increasing team efficiency. 

Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and review upgrade-related code and configurations. 

Stay current with Microsoft release waves and anticipate changes impacting upgrade workflows or automations. 

What Is Needed to Succeed in The Role?

Strong development experience with C/AL and AL, as well as SQL for data analysis and transformation 

In-depth understanding of the Microsoft Dynamics NAV/D365 Business Central upgrade process, including transition from C/AL to AL 

Experience designing and maintaining automated upgrade scripts and tools 

Familiarity with DevOps pipelines, especially using Azure DevOps for Business Central deployments 

Ability to work independently and collaboratively on complex upgrade scenarios involving ISV or customer-specific customizations 

Comfortable managing Docker containers and PowerShell scripting for upgrade environments 

English proficiency at Intermediate level or higher, with strong communication and documentation skills 

Would be a plus

Hands-on experience with Business Central add-ins, APIs, and web services 

Knowledge of Azure-based services such as Azure Functions and Service Bus 

Experience working with SaaS deployments of Business Central 

Relevant Microsoft certifications in D365 Business Central 

Prior involvement in CI/CD pipeline automation for ERP projects
