Cyber Security Engineer - Perimeter (Firewall)

We are looking forward to meeting passionate cybersecurity engineers, willing to contribute with their expertise in an end to end product development environment.

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring adherence to Garmin’s information security strategy, programs and best practice by identifying and mitigating security risks across function and business segments.

You will also lead root-cause analysis efforts to determine improvement opportunities when failures occur.

Other essential job functions:

• Ensure that the Garmin cyber defense protections are adequate and effective
• Provide recommendations to Garmin leadership and technical management regarding current and future cyber security policy considerations and technologies, based on ongoing assessment of the evolving threat environment
• Maintain security tools and technology
• Monitor internal and external policy compliance
• Work with different departments in the company to reduce risk
• Plan and conduct consultation with users, management, vendors, and technical staff to assess computing needs and system requirements that may affect Garmin’s cyber security posture
• Plan and execute multi-faceted large scale and enterprise wide security projects in accordance with established policies, regulations, and industry best practices
• Design and develop complex, integrated solutions to meet business requirements or enhance performance of Garmin’s security systems
• Measure feasibility of various approaches and make recommendations

Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, or related field AND a minimum of 2-years related IT security experience
• Demonstrated ability to maintain technically current through outside research, study, and training
• Basic familiarity with troubleshooting technical issues and using infrastructure
• Experience with Perimeter Security/Firewalls – Checkpoint, Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet or Web Application Firewalls (WAF) like AWS, WAF, Citrix WAF, Cloudflare, Barracuda, Imperva
• Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to work proactively and effectively with minimal supervision
• Network skills: Routing, switching, VLAN, intrusion detection (IDS), intrusion prevention (IPS)
• Demonstrated ability to exercise strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in a small team setting
• Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others
• English proficiency is mandatory

Would be a plus:

• Experience with AlgoSec tool
• Experience with one or more of the following: Network operations/engineering or System administration on Unix, Linux, or Windows
• Scripting Experience (Python, Powershell)
