CVOR Registered Nurse

Employment Type: Full-Time, Days (Rotating Weekends)

On-Call: Required | 10–15 call shifts/month | Must live within 30 minutes

Pay Range: $34.85 – $49.06/hr (based on experience)

• ~2 yrs: $34.85/hr

• ~5 yrs: $38.28/hr

• ~10 yrs: $42.86/hr

• ~17+ yrs: $49.06/hr

On-Call Pay: $4/hr + time-and-a-half when called in

Sign-On Bonus: $10,000

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced CVOR Registered Nurse to join a high-acuity cardiovascular operating room team in Sanford, FL. This role supports open-heart, vascular, and complex cardiothoracic surgeries, averaging 10–15 open-heart cases per month. When not assigned to cardiac cases, the CVOR RN transitions to general OR responsibilities.

This position is ideal for nurses with strong cardiovascular surgical experience who excel in a precise, fast-paced OR environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide pre-operative assessment, teaching, and patient preparation

• Initiate IVs, administer medications, and verify surgical sites

• Participate in safety protocols including time-outs, briefings, and universal protocol

• Assist surgeons, anesthesia, and surgical techs during CVOR procedures

• Monitor patient status throughout the perioperative process

• Document accurately in accordance with regulatory requirements

• Respond quickly to emergencies and rapidly changing conditions

• Maintain sterile technique and ensure equipment readiness

• Educate patients and families on surgical expectations and recovery

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support efficient workflow

Required:

• Minimum 2 years recent acute-care CVOR RN experience

• Active Florida RN license or Compact license (must obtain FL endorsement within 60 days)

• Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree

• BLS within 30 days of hire

• ACLS within 6 months

• PALS or ENPC within 6 months

Preferred:

• Experience with open-heart, CABG, valve, and complex cardiovascular procedures

• Strong critical thinking, technical accuracy, and ability to perform under pressure

• Case Volume: ~10–15 open-heart cases/month

• Call: 10–15 shifts/month; 30-minute response required
