Job Title: Customs Clearance Coordinator - Afternoon Shift
Overview:
A & A Customs Brokers is seeking an experienced and customer-focused Customs Clearance Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working at a customs brokerage in Canada. This position is critical to ensuring shipments are handled in a timely and efficient manner, working collaboratively with the Highway team to deliver exceptional service to our clients. Key Responsibilities
Review documentation and prepare customs release entries for processing.
Process and manage Highway releases.
Analyze documents to determine applicable tariff classifications, duties, and tax rates.
Collect supplementary information or documentation as required from customers, carriers, CBSA, and others.
Email clients with clear and concise communication, ensuring excellent customer service.
Handle and resolve challenging situations professionally and effectively.
Liaise with other teams for entry follow-up as required.
Maintain strong knowledge of Canadian ports and warehouses.
Enter data into computer systems accurately and efficiently.
Complete files within required timeframes and in accordance with A & A and Canadian regulations.
Review files for accuracy and errors, ensuring compliance.
Handle phone inquiries.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Experience: Preferred 2+ years of customs clearance coordination specializing in Highway shipments.
Certifications: A Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or equivalent Canadian designation is preferred.
Skills:
Experience with ITMr4, Cargowise, and/or CANdata systems is an asset.
Tech-savvy with a knack for picking up new systems quickly and finding efficiencies in digital tools.
Effective and efficient work habits, including punctuality, responsiveness, and multitasking.
Strong understanding of Canadian rules and regulations for the importation of goods.
Professional interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal, including active listening).
Exceptional problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
Highly organized, self-starter, flexible, and independent.
Proficient in Gmail/Front, Google Drive, and Google Sheets.
